Sydney: Nightlife and the Cross

I took some photos this Saturday night around Sydney between midnight and 2am. I was in the city after seeing a concert and hung around to take photos, nightclubs aren't really my thing but I find the vibrancy and atmosphere of the city at night fascinating. Being near halloween, a few costumes were out.
All from this set.

The infamous Kings Cross.
Sleazy and sometimes dangerous, sex shops, restaurants, cafes and strip clubs run down the main street, brothels and street prostitutes can be found down the back streets, which I did not venture down.
The area is heavily patrolled by cops, they're there to deal with drugs and violence, but prostitution is fully legal in this city.

I was shocked at the amount of people walking by this passed out girl as if nothing had happened, possibly an OD? Fortunately she didn't take long to wake up.

Aboriginal buskers are not an uncommon sight in Sydney, they amuse tourists.

I went out on a Saturday night in Sydney and I can confirm, Ive never seen such a drunken mess in a big city.

I caught the last train back from downtown and everyone was either passed out or making out. :)

Very nice, this area reminds of Greenwich Village, NY and a bit of Soho in London.
What concert did you go to?

Wow, don't see enough of Sydney on here.

Thanks. :)
There is no legally required last call. But commonly 4am to 6am is closing time, some places are 24 hours.

Cool shots. You depicted the madness well. I went out a few times when I was in Sydney and was shocked at the amount of people that had fallen to the ground in a drunken stupor. If I recall, somewhere near Oxford street was where I saw the worst offenders.

Funny story about this spot

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6237/...837aa420_b.jpg

I went there with 'Phil', a mid 40 year old who was my roomate at my hostel in Sydney. I litterly had known him for 30 seconds when he pitched the idea of grabbing some beers. We went to the Monkey Pub as I stupidly wore sandals and it was the only place that would allow me in. He proceeded to get obliterated and started hitting anything that moved. He used me as his in as no girl was interested in talking to a creepy, old, drunk guy. He kept going to the bathroom, I think to throw up and eventually got tossed into the drumset by some rugby-esque fellow that had enough of his shenanigans. He wasn't even the worst offender in the bar.... good times.

I bet its 20 times worse down at Bondi junction with the Irish and Brits.Young people from Ireland are moving to Sydney in the thousands and are ending up in living in Bondi.Very messy there now at night and there is a major clash with the Lebonese bouncers. From what Ive heard that although the Aussies are pissheads aswell they tend to head home around 11ish.
