2. I don't really know... 3. It depends if you have express elevators with local elevators or just single elevators. OR you could use a system like 7WTC where computers group people by the floor they are going to, resulting in greater efficency. But if you want a bit more simplicity... The old WTC had 100 elevators per tower. About 1/3 of them were express elevators (taking up about 30 shafts at the bottom, about 3000 square feet plus walking room, so it's more like 6000 I'd imagine...). Then there were about 60 left over elevators for 3 sections of the towers (lower, middle, top, each served by their own exclusive local evevators) which gives about 20 per section. The problem with elevators is that there is no formula for the needed number of elevators. So use the above knowledge as a guideline. And if you haven't already, read about express elevators, OTIS systems, and think logically about the # of workers. I'll bet none of that helped. :) |
Actually you gave me some good information. I guess it’s just something to play around with considering I’m not designing an actual building.
That’s pretty cool though about the elevator technology surrounding 7 WTC, never knew that. |
Hi guys, i'm currently designing an office building and i'm doing it's floorplans.
Here's my question: How many meters the gap between each interior column must be? Hope you understood my question, thanks. |
guys how tall are a skyscrapers balcony rails?

I got so frustrated trying to make a good bathtub, I didn't even bother to save this file. Textures piss me off. I also have trouble making smooth circles. Eventually I want to make something like this, but for now I am just going to poke around trying different things. Are there any ruby console plugins that would help me? |

And if you don't want to learn, there are many pieces on the 3D Warehouse you could use. Sorry. |
I'm honestly terrified of 3DsMax, Blender, Rhino, and the rest...they all seem so difficult to learn and I'm so used to Google Sketchup.
|
It's best to download basic components like bathtubs, sinks, furniture, etc, etc... I never try to make my own because they take too long. Plus I make my models too big [in file not size] so when I put them all together it slows down my computer. Somehow components from the 3D Warehouse are smaller [in file size].
And yeah, a Kerky thread sounds good. I think I should reorganize this section up a bit. It's kinda unorganized. Keeping it organized will make it easier for people to find things. |
What are you having trouble with on the tub? I just made this in under 2 minutes.

Well its mostly the bottom I am having trouble with. I want to make a smooth rounded bottom instead of a flat bottom. Its hard when the bath tub is irregularly shaped as opposed to being square.
I think I know how and will try to post a new model tomorrow, but I would like to see how you made your Austin55. This model took about 4 minutes to render seeing as the circles I used to make the edges have about 160+ sides (a square has 4 sides to give an idea of complexity). I am using these models to test out new textures too. You can see the slight hint of a brass faucet behind the tub, but lighting isn't something I am good at yet. |
Ok new question time! I am designing this massive new tower. Do I have to set up each floor one by one or is there some sort of plugin I can use that does it automatically? This is going to be a pain.

I did a high-rise and want to also ask, can heliports/helipads be placed where on top where there's an elevator or alongside. I made a pic that shows where I want to place a helipad, it's placed where the elevator would be. I'm clueless at this. Great model you did, Krases. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2616/...e98c7cb8ae.jpg |
Does anybody know how to Upgrade from Sketchup pro 7.0 to sketchup pro 7.1
I have checked the website btw. I put in the serial and it said it is not a sketchup 5 pr 6 serial. I need a link where I can upgrade from sketchup 7 Pro |

Use #3 on there, I've yet to try it out my self, but I'm sure it works. |

Well why not? I don't think it really matters were the helipad goes even if it's over top the elevator shaft. You will need to have an empty one or two stories on top for machinery and equipment though because of a lack of room on the roof what with the helipad in the way. I hope I understood your question correctly. |

Pretty please? :) |

And thank you, Krases for your response. I may post an image of what I did later on in the week. I'm having a devil of a time trying to use malec's method of typing the "*70" to a component, still can't work rings around that. Is it copy, then ctrl then the *70? I'm stumped... Oh well, it's good to learn. |
Or you could divide down each area below the setback, make each peice the same size, detail it, copy each one back to the point if it's size, and whalam.
That probbly makes no sense does it? |
