Ah yes. Thanks Msb, I remember now. I'm curious if anyone knows something about the reclamation of those Kennecott Pit sides of the Oquirrh Mountains. I seem to remember some kind of plan to reshape and replant at least a sizable portion of those scars. Anyone have an answer on that?

So there's no sign of movement at the "Summit at the Cairns" site in Sandy yet but there is a large sign advertising the project that is visible from the freeway. It's the same renderings that we've seen on the website.

I also wanted to mention that I recently did some pixel math to figure out which building is the tallest in Utah right now outside of downtown SLC. The correct answer is the IHC Sorenson Patient Tower in Murray (which is ~220 ft), not the Mountain America building in Sandy like the news articles at the time claimed (example). The Mountain America building isn't even taller than the tallest buildings in Provo and Ogden.

Tallest buildings in Utah outside of SLC:

1. Sorenson Patient Tower, Murray (2007)
2. Pederson Patient Tower, Provo (2019)
3. Ogden City Municipal Building, Ogden (1940)
4. Fourth District Courthouse, Provo (2018)

I do think the Summit will be the new tallest outside of SLC if it is built.

I think Emporis has the right numbers for these, just not for the Sorenson Tower or Mountain America building.

New Stadium Headed for the Wasatch Front
 

It looks like we can expect a new 10,000 person stadium somewhere along the Wasatch Front for the Utah Warrior's Rugby team and a yet to be disclosed other team.

What other types of pro sports franchises might we expect?

Weird. Not sure how the Warriors merit a new stadium but more power to them! As for a new pro sports franchise, Lacrosse is about the only thing I can think of that would fit the bill

Mountain America Building is about 160' tall.

This is really interesting! I've tried to find data on the tallest buildings in Ogden and hadn't had much luck.

I don't know if any of you remember the water slide parks of the 80's, but there was Super Sliders, and then there was Wild Waves(correction: Raging Waters), if I remember right, and they were COOL. Well, I guess Raging Waters was turned over to a 7 Peaks franchise, but now it is closed and in disrepair. Salt Lake City owns it now? and is deciding what to do with it. Also some of the water from the park has been leaking into the Jordan River.

Boom, right in the childhood. I knew it as Raging Waters when I was a kid. It's really sad to see it in this state of disrepair.

My understanding is that Salt Lake City has always owned the property as it was purchased in the 70s with state funds which required the property to remain public open space in perpetuity. Raging Waters and Seven Peaks simply had operating permits, somehow that was understood to be public.

If the city is to make a substantial investment anyways, it would seem that this would be a good time to reinvest with the property's engagement with the Jordan River. I know that there were plans during the Becker administration via the open space bond that was cancelled to transform the the golf course to the south into a regional park, perhaps some of these plans could be implemented on a smaller scale at the raging water site?

Does anyone remember Magic Waters in Draper? You could see it from the freeway. That's where I always went as a kid, we couldn't afford Raging Waters or Seven Peaks

In the 80's it was called Super Sliders, if I remember correctly.

I live 1.5 miles from this and drive past it all the time when I go out shopping. It's a little bigger than I thought it would be. Though I am a little disappointed as it seems the land next to the 24 hour ER is being turned into parking. The theater has seating for about 415 people.

On the other side of the building almost at the top, there is a section on the corner with no brick. At first, I thought it would be a spot for one of the LED signage but I haven't seen any space cut out or set aside for electrical for it.

Steven F., I noticed from the update photos that it looks like they're getting ready to commence construction on the new (but vintage) L.D.S. Temple. Love the quality look of that structure. I'm impressed with the many new developments going up around West Valley/Taylorsville. Seems like the area is moving in the right direction. I must admit it will be somewhat of a smile inducer to see that pioneer-style temple just off the freeway.

If I recall, it got torn down for Beus Isuzu (14301 S. Minuteman Road) in the 1990s.

Can someone please take some photos of the recently complete buildings at Fairbourne Station in West Valley City. I believe the 9-story office building should be complete. Here's a photo of the new police building:
