We tend to forget the impact that 656' has given the surroundings, but in many cities, that is a new tallest. If you place 656' out in a field, you'd be like damn... its big.

Now, the only in NY thing could also be said for the fact that 800' towers go unnoticed. That itself is scary, yet a testament to the boom and the magnitude of its skyscraper collection, spanning 3 centuries!

Whats exiting is we are on our way to being the global city with the most super talls. Where not there yet, but catching up. If all goes well, the #1 spot is in reach. 2# is not acceptable!

Very well said. For some reason this made me think of the STL Arch... Anyone who has visited STL knows how dominating it appears, despite how short it really is (630')

Anyway, assuming the rough estimate of ~650' remaining on this tower is correct, there are only 26 cities in the US with buildings taller than what remains to be built on CPT. Like you said, its easy to get spoiled in NYC, but if thats not impressive idk what is.

Nordstrom’s men’s store is opening Thursday with alcoholic drinks and digital style boards

“Even though we have 363,000 square feet over [at Central Park Tower], it was still tight,” Clark explained. “The hardest thing in Manhattan is to get the right scale of space for our total offering. ... We want to have everything here.”

One Worldwide Plaza? It is pretty famous. As far as 2nd tier NYC buildings go.

World Wide Plaza is by no means second tier. It's the HQ to one of the most prestigious law firms in the world.

Wasn't it also the first 600'+ tower to be built further west than 1 Astor/1515 Broadway? It certainly marks where Hell's Kitchen is.

But apropos here, It's beginning to dawn on me how wide I thought this tower *wasn't* going to be.

I just meant height wise for a building in NYC. It has always been a favorite of mine as well. I wish more modern buildings went for this style.

Back to CPT. I know it has gotten some hate for massing and the loss of the spire, but I think it is going to surprise us. I think it will look much better than 432. Time will tell though. 111 is going to be the real star of midtown.
