Thanks for the pictures.

Will there be any metal screens or has that been completely cut? I am wondering what those metal things poking out from around the windows on Lower Water Street are for.

I like the sandstone too. I think it complements the area well, since there are a lot of sandstone buildings from Granville down to the waterfront around here. Hopefully the Press Block will make this area feel more cohesive too.

Those are all brackets to hold the metal screens and they are all still installed.

There must just be a delay in fabrication.

They also launched the hotel brand this week. It will be the Muir Hotel (Muir is Gaelic for Sea) and the rest of the building will not be open until next year.

That is good to hear. The panels will be something unusual and new to the city. The sandstone is nice while the glass box type portions of this look a bit odd right now.

Is there any hotel affiliatiion with the MUIR??? I can't see a 5 star hotel operating on its own!

In the promotional video, Armour Group says the hotel is independent.

Yep, I guess they wanted full control over the design. I did see an interview with someone from Armour where they said they might link up with a chain's rewards network though.

The trees really improve the look of the development. They are planted above the parking garage – I hope the tree pits are large enough to allow the trees to grow and thrive. Soil volume makes a huge difference to the eventual size of the tree.

Thanks for the pics!

The sidewalk on lower water is completely open now.

I noticed last night from a distance there is lighting on this now. A large soft strip of light along the top of this project. From Dartmouth it makes this look huge.

The lighting visible in this shot?

That's the one. I hope there is more to come on different parts of the building.

Does anyone know what the platform on the Northern wings top balcony is for? I don't recall seeing it before but it's pretty obvious on the pictures above.

It boggles the mind to think that pathway is the main route for thousands of cargo containers to leave the Port of Halifax.

I actually do agree that the fact that downtown has to accommodate thousands of container trucks is wild. I do hope this rail shuttle they've touted actually comes to fruition.

It is for the law firm Stewart McKelvey

I'm concerned that stairway into the harbour is going to be incredibly slippery and hazardous.
