Talking with a family member with Porter. YYC was not on the list anytime soon.

Well is up to Porter Airlines top leadership team to decide whether they will add Calgary YYC flights.

Your family friend working for Porter doesn’t decide it.

Eventually Porter will add YYC, as it’s the 2nd largest market in Western Canada after Vancouver YVR!

Will this also be the first ever pre-cleared (customs) PD routes as well? Or did the short lived MLB flights from YOW pre-clear?

Finally some good news for YOW. Clearly these are being established as feeder flights and is a good indication for PD's future at YOW. From zero to now two airlines on YQT-YOW.

Yes YOW-MLB was pre-cleared. YQG-MLB also operated. The routes ended when the subsidies ended as PD I think discovered the weight restriction to 55 pax on the Dash didn't work. Would not be surprised to see it eventually return seasonally on Saturdays with the E95s.

By the way WS is ending YYZ-YXU mid January now.

Shouldn't be unexpected as all q400's are leaving yyz from WS.

Woops forgot about that one. I was firmly in a non-Sun destination mindset.

What’s with the slow but steady trickle of announcements? Do one big one and call it a day….it’s not like Porter didn’t know last week that they were going to serve YYC.

Airboy Dec 15, 2022 5:14 PM

Guess I'll have to take back my Porter not going into YYC. Should make for some interesting moves in YYZ area

I like the trickle of announcements. Being new markets for Porter it gives them the opportunity to introduce themselves individually to each one with the announcements. It's also a good way to remain in the news cycle overall.

It keeps the graphic artists busy and employed.

There website today has Mr. Porter (their Raccoon Mascot) ridging a horse with cowboy hat on and the Calgary stadium in the background.

I don't remember what they did for Vancouver. Perhaps Mr. Porter sipping a Latte or snowboarding.

Porter is appealing $130 million judgement against it in favour of the operators of YTZ. You’d think they’d be a little more cautious with their cash. Someone remind me, did they get a big Federal Covid cash handout?

I guess it's to stay relevant in the news? I'm finding it a little odd too, but it's kind of fun to have a different announcement every day I guess?

With the rate they're going at with deliveries, we could have an announcement every few days for the next year! :haha:

YYZ-YYC 2x daily

Yep & YYC-YYZ will be a crowded route for Competition S23!

There’s already 1 out of the “fray” as Air Transat Calgary YYC - Toronto YYZ is (suspended/cancelled) this Spring/Summer 2023. Only its YYC to Montreal YUL route will be operating S23

But hey Porter Airlines on YYC - YYZ route can fill the Air Transat spot.
