Pics around town

In my travels I took these few pics in between developments. Thought you guys would like to see them.

The new addition onto the NCSS Waterfront Campus.

A wide view of the entire campus.

The progress on the redevelopment of Cable Wharf. The ferry side of the boardwalk around the building is now open again. Although I have a feeling it will close soon as they are replacing all of the wood for the boardwalk. And just on a side note, when I was walking around I was crossing the little bridge on the way towards the museum and I saw a whole crap load of fish underneath the bridge. It was really cool.

The next few are all from my friends balcony at Cunard Court.
Looking up Brunswick.

The hopefully soon to be demolished Cogswell Interchange.

Downtown Dartmouth.

You can see the domes on the casino are slowly starting to oxidize and turn green.

A nice little fountain. I wish we had more of these downtown. I was thinking the other day it would be great to put a fountain in at all the different Landings along the boardwalk.

The old building at the Hospital in Woodside being torn down.

The new shopping center in Woodside now home to Value Village.

A zoomed view down Brunswick Street looking at the old Dal residence which is being refaced if I'm not mistaken. Anyone know what exactly they are doing to it?

The Kracken rig that just left the harbour this morning.

For Gerard hall they are taking the brick off the south, and maybe north faces this summer and puting metal panels up, similar to what is being done at the VG

Looking at photo #5, I think it would be cool if the new developments would allow for the widening of lower water between Purdy's and that ugly brick wall currently there and make it a 2 way street again. With office towers on both sides it would allow for a better screetscape experience for the people walking along the street to the Casino. I don't mind the pedway one bit but it would be nice to walk outside and not have to look at decaying brick. Who knows? There might even be a mini-park green space incorporated, or even an outdoor rink!

Nice pics. Although for a bit of critiscism a few look a little low quality. But thanks for the Halifax photos.

I like your idea. But I don't think they would ever change Hollis back to two way, so I would think they would need another one way for people to get out of the downtown. That wall will definitely go. I would assume they would regrade the entire site so there would be absolutely no need for it.

Thanks. The bad quality ones are only because I had my zoom at max digital zoom. So it reduces the quality.

Hollis should definitely stay one way. I'm not a fan of one way streets but it works for that street.Upper/Lower water would make a good one way 2 lane outbound st but since I drive that street southbound quite a bit I'm not sure if I personally would even want the change. As time goes on it will be interesting to see how the planners decide to get traffic out of downtown with the absence of the current ramps. I myself would like to see a third lane from at least Cornwallis along Barrington to the MacDonald bridge ramp. I think that would help the merging issues that happen at that intersection now. As I say that though I realize the true issue is the bridge. Maybe its time to expand the bridge again! lol. This time to 5 lanes:jester:

They should definately keep Hollis one way... just the other way. I think it would be great if they made Barrington St. one way inbound and Hollis St. one way outbound. They would meet up at the train station/ Superstore where Barrington could continue on as a two way street to Inglis. I doubt it would ever happen but it always seemed to make sense to me.

Some more pictures from over the weekend. The first few are from the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal. The others are all from the Dartmouth Commons.

Nice pics "Jonovision"

I've really got to say Spice looks better on the skyline than I thought it would. It adds some badly needed to an area that is quite dull.
