I found one of the proposals for what could end up going up at seventh and market. I hope this one ends up being the winner. This would seriously enhance the area.

Looking forward to seeing this building to go up in San Diego. This building will make San Diego a very modern and futuristic city.

Better than a parking lot.

I really like that 7th and Island proposal. I agree that building would really enhance the area!! Anyone know the height?

I prefer the Wings of Freedom or whatever to this.

SD can do ...err..deserves better.

The Wings of Freedom would be at the yet to be built Veterans Park on the other side of the Midway.

Counted approximately 43 floors...not bad. Should be at least 450'

Now I'm curios to see the other proposals

Hmm. If these are updated renderings, I'm disappointed they don't include the original 450'+ slender tower that was by the large park. They seem to have omitted it. :(

Holy! Where did you find these? I would like to see the other renderings, but this is quite impressive already.

SDfan Jan 9, 2015 7:02 AM

The ferris wheel looks whatever. I am about 90% certain it won't get built.

tyleraf Jan 9, 2015 3:15 PM

I found the pictures on joecordelle.com. He does renderings for several developers in San Diego.

Thanks for posting. It's hard to tell where and for what some of the renderings are for. For example, there is this rendering for a hotel Indigo. It looks to be somewhere in CA, but not sure if it's in SD? I REALLY wish the current hotel indigo downtown was designed like this ;)

Here's another rendering from the link Tyler provided. It looks like you can see the Mark next to it to give some idea of scale:

I agree with the others, I REALLY want to see renderings of the other proposals now. I wonder if they are all as strong as this one.

It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than just this.

He also has this posted. I don't think that Barrio Logan allows very tall buildings, but this makes me wonder if the restrictions are under the new plan only.

Wow that's cool. Can't wait to see this go up sometime in San Diego. I am very excited about this city.

Thanks for the enthusiasm, but this doesn't look like anything the current or proposed community plan for the area allows (I think the height limit for Barrio Logan is 50-65 feet along the major corridors). This looks like some sort of conceptual plan that isn't going anywhere.

This is absolutely incredible!!! I don't think we've seen the other renderings for the 2 other firms that bid for this site, but this one already looks like a winner!

6 months ago I spoke to a staffer from Douglas Wilson who is one of the bidders (they built the Mark, Parklofts, and Symphony Towers) and he confirmed they were bidding on this site, and their proposal was 500 feet. By the looks of the rendering, this looks 500 feet and I wonder if this rendering is their proposal.

Either way, I think this is one of the most exciting buildings I've seen in a long time.

This looks like a finals project from the New School of Architecture. Unless it's 10+ years old, it can't be a serious proposal, many of the sites in this rendering are inaccurate... for example, this shows parks adjacent to the bridge, and Barrio Station with the Northgate Market currently occupies this area.

Joe Cordelle - Architect

You guys should check out this architects website. He has some pretty amazing renderings of built project and visionary stuff. This idea is probably my favorite... and why not?
