This project is similar to one that was just built in Burlington at THIS LOCATION.
Here is a picture of that project from Burlington: http://www.branthaven.com/wp-content...allery_069.jpg Source Imagine something like that ^ along King Street with a 6-storey apartment in behind and you get the 120 & 124 King St W project. |
I like it. :)
Also, how many 120 King St. Wests are there in Hamilton, three? Google maps gave me one in Dundas and one downtown but didn't give me this one in Stoney Creek. |

When I lived in the 'burbs, this type of project became popular. It felt oddly out of place, given the setback, architectural style and being surrounded by cookie-cutter houses.
Here's an example, in Oakville: http://goo.gl/maps/f0xCE But it would be so appropriate for certain properties on King Street in the core. Just walk or drive west along King from, say, Wentworth. You'll see a number of vacant lots or "abandoned" (unrentable) properties, which would be well suited for this kind of project. The combo of live/work/commercial street-level townhomes with residential uses above brings good density and affordability. |

The name of this development is "Village Creek" and it is under construction.
The thread name needs to be changed from... 120 & 124 King St W | ? | 6fl & 2fl | Proposed to Village Creek | ? | 6fl & 2fl | Under Construction |
The 10 townhouse units are complete, they look pretty nice. Construction is starting on the 6-floor residential building in behind them.
I found a listing for one of the 10 residential units... Quote:

Great updates thomax! The townhouses look great, hopefully the building behind them won't be too bad looking.....

Is the Phase 2 building rental units or condo?
The building design looks more like a condo building to me, and the proposal PDF has the word "condominium" splashed throughout. However, wouldn't these get pre-sold before hand? I've never seen any listing or reference to this building anywhere else. |
Phase 1 is all rentals, and there haven't been any sales for phase 2, so it is probably rentals as well.
