I saw this on the news too. OB is impossible. This is the community that initiated a lot of the anti-development movement on the coast back in the 70's. All of that 60's protest era angst has to go somewhere I guess...

^ Unfortunately it's not just the coastal areas.

No four-story wall on Cresita Drive

A lawsuit brought by the College Area Residents Association to stop the construction of a 91-unit quasidorm in a neighborhood of single family homes settled quietly at the end of September, according to court records and involved parties.

The residents had won a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction to halt construction of the building, arguing that the approval by city council was based on a 10-year-old environmental review for a much smaller sorority house that was never constructed on the 1.5-acre lot.

The settlement was announced at a College Area Community Council and Planning Board meeting Wednesday night.

EL REY: A construction worker at El Rey told me the other day that that building was shooting to have its temporary certificate of occupancy by October 31.

PACIFIC HEIGHTS: I've also noticed that demolition is under way at Pacific Heights, which is located on the western half of the block that McDonald's occupies, between A, B, and 11th. Civicsd.com says that Pacific Heights is a 22 story building with 279 apartment units.

Didn't Bosa buy this property a while back? I thought their strategy was to buy out competitors and land bank all of these properties to keep the market tight (this property, "The Block", and other empty parking lots). So far their focus has been on the bayfront (two towers currently under construction). Moving east into EV would be very surprising, unless they're trying to beat out Pinnacle and their twin 32 story project nearby, which won't start construction until well after the second Pinnacle on Park tower is completed in 2018-19.

Secundo que!

I second that!

SDfan: Pinnacle actually owns the Pacific Heights site. Maybe they have changed their strategy. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/...htmlstory.html

Yesssssss! Hopefully. I see them as a counter weight to Bosa.

Excellent news -- although it will be a little strange to walk down Market Street and have Alta, the Ritz, The Mark and Strata on one side while 3-6 story buildings are on the other. Still a fantastic addition to downtown and it'll be great to finally get rid of that parking lot.

I heard a rumor that once The Ritz is complete or maybe just under construction, that Park it on Market (7th and Market) will be knocked down, parking will be buried below ground and another high-rise would be going up on that parcel. That would be awesome, but again who knows the likelihood. Would be exciting though!

Awesome...and great height for that spot too. It looks like an actual, full-fledged skyscraper!

That lot is about the same size as Alta's. If that rumor pans out, we should hope to see something of at least equal height.

I could be wrong, but I believe Park It On Market is owned by the city (CivicSD). It's operated by Ace, though.

I was excited until I read the article and saw some of the details. The "schedule" says the land must be sold by April 2018. Does that mean the project won't start until then or is that just a worst case scenario? They say 2021 for completion but don't give a firm start date. I just hope this one doesn't dangle like a carrot for years and years and then ends up going to never built rendering land like so many other proposals. Sorry to be the voice of pessimism, I hope I'm totally wrong and this one breaks ground next year

This is going to look so amazing and tall from the batter's box of PETCO, televised Pardes' games are going to show a sexy downtown to the rest of the nation!

Approx 19 min mark starts some discussion. Timeline given as (ideal) 2017 start, 2020 completion.

This is no where near as exciting as 7th and market but 10 barrel is under construction in makers quarter. I walked by the other day. The ceiling and floor are removed.

Sunset from my hood the other day.

Can't wait till Pinnacle 2 and Ballpark Village are in this shot!
