Yes, I've noticed that too. Only the Blue Jays seem to be mostly above the fray when it comes to these familial battles... they are the common ground, although as has been noted there are some Argo fans who probably aren't crazy about them due to Rogers' ownership either.

Never seen that before, but then I don't frequent hockey forums to hear much of that. Never seen anything like that in the various TFC online mediums or events either.

First ever conference finals game tonight for the Raptors!

To be more precise, there's a "Leafs suck" contingent among the Raptors fanbase, but it has little to do with hockey being passé or old-school Canadian and everything to do with the perception that the Toronto media gives the Raptors the short end of the stick when it comes to coverage, despite being the more successful team.

Though the first two videos are fan-made, something very close to this has actually happened before!

As I understand it, this is something that hockey fans in other Canadian markets can sympathize with.

That's not really a specific example and, no offense, but, the rest of Canada doesn't have the same representation of sports and ownerships as Toronto does. A fairer comparison would have to be any number of US markets and I don't see any difference to Toronto.

These accusations that Toronto is somehow unique for the antagonisms between some of the fans of teams in different sports are bizarre. I thought it was sort of common knowledge that this often happens in larger sports markets.

Valanciunas's injury is such a damn shame. It would have been really nice to see the Raps at full strength for this series. Realistically I think they'll struggle to win even one game, but I can't help but harbour hopes for a miracle.

Maybe momentum and adrenaline will let them steal this one tonight!

To be fair, the entire premise of his argument is based on market size and there are no comparable markets within Canada... but that's if you're being fair.

What a game. What a win! I confess I was worried that they'd get blown off the floor and crumble in defeat, but I should have had more faith than that. I mean, they did make it to the conference finals after all, it was no fluke. They played like crap the first two games, and roared back tonight to turn this into a legitimate series, and that is totally cool.

But can they win game 4? Erm...I dunno. Did the Cavs play badly because of Toronto's better defence tonight (yes), or did they just play badly because they were due a bad game (also yes)? You can't really expect Kyrie Irving to have two off nights in a row.

Even if they lose the next two games, getting a win like this on the home floor totally redeems them in my eyes. The self-respect and dignity are now fully repaired and intact, but the psychological situation would have been pretty ugly if they'd gotten blown out tonight.

So, it was an exciting win, but also a freakin' relief!

Home court advantage, aka Jurassic Park is not useless after all ;)
Whoever has the most home games this series probably takes it in my opinion.
