^ I spent a couple of weeks in Tashkent about 5 years ago. Its a beautiful city. Say what you will about them but the Soviets knew how to build tree-lined boulevards.

Doesn't Tashkent possess the only subway in the 'Stans?

Thank you for posting these photographs. I've never seen any photos before of Tashkent. It looks quite interesting. I think it's quite sad how off the radar places like Uzbekistan are when it seems like an interesting place (same could be said for Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, etc.)

Yes, that is true. Its quite a beautiful system as well. The stations have that Stalinesque grandeur (chandaliers, etc.).

bumping thread to next page
Way too many pictures for one page, so I'm taking the liberty to bump this thread to Page 2.

With too many pictures, it takes far too long for page to load, and jams up the computer (for those of us with slower systems) :)

Once the page did load up though, I thought the pictures were nice.

:) I mean well by this comment... I'm guessing that others might give up and just not view the thread at all, especially if they have similar problems as I had in loading the page

Thanks again for the preview of Tashkent!
