48th State- While a brewery of the same name is opening at 345 W Van Buren early next year, this will be retail aspect.
PedalHouse- Brewery

There are 19 containers. I wonder if we can expect 19 shops or if some will occupy more than 1 container.

Not much that we don't already know- 2 bars, 4 shops, 4 restaurants. But it more or less confirmed what I suspected that it would be a summer opening, although I was hopeful when they mentioned Spring.

Only new thing here is the mention of a wine bar, which brings the Churchill to a grand total of 3 bars, 4 restaurants, and 3 shops.

Link contains the full list of retailers, bars, and restaurants all confirmed for the project. Will be a solid place, will def stumble through here on Friday nights!

Love the list, especially the Central Mexican food which sounds delicious and the non-food retail. I'll definitely make a point to patronize.

Bummer but it appears that Pedal Haus Brewery will no longer be part of this project. I was really looking forward to them being in downtown. They hope to replace with a similar beer concept...

just the other day over social media

I was sifting through FB and Instagram, couldn't find anything to indicate they weren't opening as planned. I saw a post about a job fair happening at the Pedal House location on Mill but in the comment section was cancelled due to an "unforeseen venue change."

I'd imagine many disappointed patrons would be more aware of this if this were the case. Or maybe I didn't dig deep enough, in any case, I hope Pedal Haus stays

LOL sorry I wasn't more clear. Straight from The Churchill owners, Pedal Haus is no longer part of their concept

Wonder if it was a disagreement, financially related, or a lack of confidence in the project.

Even though pedalhaus isn't the best with food and drink, they do a great job with their atmosphere, that's really too bad, I hope they find another tenant that will fit well in this project or it may be DOA

The Churchill is looking fairly complete. I have to admit, I was skeptical, but now am digging the project much more. The containers have received a grey paint job and the interior looks very open.

Haha, yea. Sorry about the pic size. I thought about resizing them, but I figured people would want to see some detail. :yes:

I'm not exactly a fan of that blue art piece container, but everything else looks cool. The gray paint and font choice looks really good together.

AZ Central has the updated list. Pedaul Haus being replaced by The Brill Line. Pedal Haus would’ve been so much better in this location. Oh well

As much as I was looking forward to Pedal Haus, I like the concept being maintained as a place for local craft brews. Glad they found a replacement real quick. For those who don't know its namesake, the Brill streetcar line used to run north on 10th St to Sheridan starting service in 1895 in the North Garfield neighborhood (which was then known as the 'Brill Addition' when it was plotted in the 1880s.) Your history lesson for today :tup:

Walked by earlier, tons of workers and shop owners on-site. The inside looks pretty stellar, and dare I say, I think this place will live up to the hype!

Why didn't they just finish enclosing the space? It seems like it would have been so much cooler in there without the open air concept.

I love me a food hall but can't understand why places like this refuse to acknowledge that AZ is crazy hot during the summer. People don't want to sit where it's bearable, they want to sit where it's cool.

With proper shade, fans and misters patios are very pleasant all summer long, look at O.H.S.O, Ocotillo and 4peaks, they manage to keep their large outdoor spaces busy all summer long.

Other good tidbits here as they mention the same owners for the new So Far, So Good also plan to open up a bar (Axiom) at one of the bungalows at 6th St and Roosevelt. And also a new speakeasy/prohibition concept near UnderTow called Century Grand.

At first i was afraid we'd end up with a vacancy at Churchill when reading the headline which could kill it if you only have one bar and other start to leave. But this is a win-win all around!

It does sounds good. I wonder if they’ll bake their own bagels or procure them from somewhere else. One of the best local bagel bakers, Odelay in Ahwatukee, recently went out of business. The name has me puzzled. Maybe it’s a New York reference I don’t get. My inner 10-year-old would want to call it “Stoop-id.”

It definitely has a New York influence/ring to it, but I think it's a subtle reference to the cartoon show "Hey, Arnold!"

Stoop is reference to the steps leading up to an apartment building where people, sat, socialized and hung out. I think it’s of Dutch origin like a lot of stuff in NYC.

Thanks. I'm a year or so too young to meet the arbitrary cut-off for the label of "boomer," but I've never heard of the show.

I'm a boomer, but I did watch every episode numerous times with my daughter, and it still took me having to look this up to remember Stoop Kid. But, I guess losing my memory is part of the whole boomer package:)
