but I think you may have mistakenly labeled 401 W Chicago under construction when you mean to mark 301 W Huron.

Not my map, 401 W Chicago is under construction and 301 W Huron should be starting soon

I thought tower crane at Ally recently came down? The building topped off weeks ago. Unless this a new crane that they are going to use to build the riverwalk?
There's also a new crane at 732 W. Randolph. Edit: Someone already posted pics on the previous page.

Apologies for the graininess here (zoom + iPhone 7), but thought this gave a nice sense of West Loop activity.

Hmm. Ok, not sure what the 2nd crane is then. I am pretty sure the 3rd is the Big Deahl crane. I can only see one crane on that site though. Unless this is the second one for that site but it looks like it's farther away to me.

Any chance there is a crane going up at Morton Salt?

The 2nd and 3rd cranes are for the Big Deahl site. The one on the left is for the highrise. Its taller, not further. Ally is not visible in this view. It is blocked by the Hudson

I must have misinterpreted your nuanced comment. Please, elaborate on your garbage opinion so we may all be brought out of the darkness.

Ah that makes sense, thank you.

This is a weird one.

Second Tower Design Revealed For 1300 W Carroll Site In Fulton Market

Adjacently west at a height of 514 feet, the revealed phase two will take a more contextual approach in its design. Most notably, the crown will be made up of concrete cylindrical elements that harken to the silos of the demolished mill. As shown in the rendering, the signage “1300 W” will be emblazoned along the crown’s rounded surfaces. The remainder of its exterior consists of a rounded rectangular massing with a glass curtain wall facade and inlaid balconies. Programming for this phase two skyscraper will also be mixed-use, housing 633 apartments, 570,000 square feet of office space, and 255 parking spaces.

I'm still pretty sore about the loss of the old office component of the ADM site at the corner of Elizabeth and Carroll. It was a very handsome 6 story brick structure that the city should have forced the developer to an adaptive reuse within their master plan.

That said, I like this new proposal. I dig the circular concrete drums as the crown on the building. We need more reminders like this of the neighborhood's industrial past, because the evidence of it is vanishing at a fast clip.

People really have the audacity to say there's limited parking in Chicago lmao. There's TOO MUCH parking actually, literally every new building is littered with parking.

It was 715, so progress. Pretty sure its because of Fulton becoming a P street, which allowed the trim. Agree though. There is a 7 story parking garage literally across the street that sits mostly empty.

Randomguy34 May 25, 2022 7:52 PM

The development is on Carroll Street and is just a little too far from the Green Line to count as TOD. The parking reduction is likely because it has downtown zoning
