Very nice work so far.

Wow, just wow. I wish I could hire you to design Staunton's Civic Center, I have a real hard time modeling these types of buildings, very time consuming. Can't wait to see what's next~

Wow, great modelling. I've always faniced having a go at a big classical styled building, good job. Will there be a dome/tower on top?

JHoward88 Feb 4, 2014 7:32 AM

There will be a dome at the top. :)

The upper Pediment:

The Capitol Dome is finished. after 50 hours of work, most major work on the Legislative Building is now complete.

Though it is not an exact replica, this model is in the close likeness of the Washington State capitol in Olympia, WA.

The clock and pillared decorative structures on the upper rooftop adjacent to the base of the rotunda dome do not exist in actuality. They do, however, appear in original concept drawings of the building, which is why I included them in my design.

Wow! I think your building is great! You've done a great job with it:D
If you have the time, please check out my Remus city!

That looks like a hell of a lot of work! It looks really great, the detail is awesome.

The Temple of Justice, positioned directly across from the Legislative Building, is now mostly complete. Some shading/texture detail and props, such as wall mounted lamps, will still be added.

Initial columns rise for the Insurance Building. In designing columns, I have avoided copying columns from one building for use in another. Thus each building's columns, while almost identical, are unique:

Amazing detail! I especially like those Doric columns, very nice modeling.

Great progress seeing both buildings together now!

Two additional office buildings flank the Legislative Building on its right and left. Some progress is made on surrounding grounds.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h.../20141101D.jpg

In actuality, only one building flanks the domed Legislative building on Olympia's capitol campus today. This model includes two, as depicted in original 1911 site plans submitted by Architects White & Wilder.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h.../20141101B.jpg

A combination of stairs and pathways leading to the base of capitol hill were originally planned, as well as a triumphal arch and mall extending along the north-south axis. Though that aspect of development never happened, this model strives to be faithful to the original vision.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h.../20141101E.jpg

Though a majority of this model replicates the actual buildings and grounds of Olympia's Capitol Campus with as near exactness as possible, the arch, grand staircase, and proceeding mall extension - none of which actually exist - provide me with an opportunity to add my own uninhibited artistic license as well.
