SDCal: I emailed the developers of the Idea district and they said they are aiming for groundbreaking of IDEA1 in Q1 2015. Also, there next project may end up being at Park and Market in the form of a 300 foot plus mixed use skyscraper.

That would be great for that corner.

Nice flurry of activity coming out in the last month or so. I remember in April we were all down in the dumps with our outlook on the city and now things are stepping up.

Does anyone know what is holding up the Hazard Center tower/s? That seems like such a no brainer to get that rolling. Also Civita is starting to look chunky and dense along Friars and there is still TONS of room left to the East to build that out!

Does anyone know what is going up on the West End of Aero Drive by Montgomery Field? I might be in that area next couple of days. Serra Mesa is such a no mans land, and don't even get me started on Linda Vista, was there a few days ago and that hood need a complete redo. Some serious slum lords there and it is such a great location.

Linda Vista is borderline third world in a couple of spots lol, and I have been exploring City Heights on bicycle lately and there is some serious poverty tucked back in there. If anyone ever wants to bike around town pm me, I'm always up for exploring.

It had a sign up saying opening summer 2013 and here it is summer 2014 and they are still workers tinkering around.

Bosa updated his website and it mentions that completion for Pacific Highway and Broadway is still a go for groundbreaking this year and completion by 2016 which is a good sign! Also, mentions that Kettner and Ash should break ground next year with First and Island following sometime after. http://bosadev.com

Its interesting that in this article from January which seems to have all of its facts right that it mentions that the lot at 16th and G is still getting the taller version of the proposal rather than the Lucia nel Cielo version that we saw most recently. Interesting, it also says that the Pacific Highway and Broadway tower is currently named Parcel9, and the official name will be determined by the public.

Yea, Bosa previously mentioned that he would have a contest to name the building and the winner will receive a tour of the rooftop terrace with him.

I stayed overnight Tuesday in San Ysidro, and it's nice to see the 3rd tower rising, across the Border in Tijuana, in that New Town high-rise condo project, I believe the tallest is 30+ stories, and it gives a nice urban touch to San Ysidro, as you can see the towers looming ahead. Am wondering what type of residents this project is going to attract, as you can actually walk to these towers from the Border. People who work in San Diego, but prefer to live across the Border?

I see there's also a couple of high-rise office buildings (10-12 stories) under construction in the Zona Rio district.

My dentist in Tijuana lives across the border in San Ysidro, but prefers to live there and commute back and forth.

I would think there'd be more demand for housing on the U.S. side of the border, but where is it? San Ysidro has a nice village feel to it, and it would be exciting to see it become more urbanized. But perhaps there's Nimby's down that way that would be opposed to it?

Ah! To live in San Ysidro close enough to the Border! Spend my evenings in the Zona Norte District, run over there for breakfast in the morning!
