This is hte first I've heard of this project in a while, a little surprised to see the permit yesterday for this to go up (permit has address listed as 60 E Benton):

^ That lot has been fenced off for seemingly forever now, I was starting to think it might not happen.

Will be interesting to see two lots right next to each other go up at the same time. Crane position and concrete delivery logistics seem like they could be a PITA

^It bid in late September. Seems to be right on track.

And by the way, what a nice looking alley! :haha:

Three Senior Residential Buildings Planned

Plans are out for a new 9-story 64 unit senior housing building at 1201 N California (Division and Cali). Nine is pretty tall for the neighborhood.

A new 5-story bldg with 64+ units is planned for 4600 W Schubert.

And my favorite is a 6-story new building/Facadectomy of the historic 1535 N Pulaski.

All take up vacant lots, which is great.

EDIT: 1201 is the vacant lot at Division* and Cali. Thanks, Goose'

Terracotta well worth saving.

Based on 1201 N California address, I assume this is Division and California?

The rendering for 1535 shows usage of those pixelated panels that everyone loves, with a limestone colored motif. They could have done a million other things design-wise, like incorporating the texture of that gorgeous terracotta... I give the design a B, overall.

13th and Indiana

From Alderman Dowell's February 2020 newsletter:
Quote:

13th St. and Indiana Ave. Project Canceled
The project proposed for the vacant parcel located on the northeast corner of 13th St. and Indiana Ave. has been canceled. The developer is not moving forward with the purchase of the parcel, which remains under the ownership of Crescent Heights. Crescent Heights has no plans for the parcel at this time. Should a new project be proposed for 13th St. and Indiana Ave., Alderman Dowell will once again bring it to the community for input and comment before any action is taken.
Anyone know anything about what was planned here?

I thought that was going to be townhouses or some short apartment building.
It is part of the One Central planned development.

I don't remember ever seeing a rendering of the building.

BB 1871 Feb 3, 2020 10:31 PM

The retail space at the northeast corner of Michigan and Randolph has a new banner up seeking a retail/restaurant tenant. This is millennium park plaza where an apartment building was once proposed. There was a generic rendering on the sign but it looks like they plan to demo what’s there and build new. Such a prime space. Would be bummed not to have a high rise blocking that eyesore of a building but would take the restaurant for now as a major improvement
