What tower is that again? I don't think it's as stunning and elegant as Steinway, but it's very handsome. I really like this new style that Steinway, 9 Kekalb, and this embody.

Sorry for the lack of ID.

Not to boast, but when you think about it, we have 4 landmark, design of the year worthy towers rising. 9 Dekalb, 45 Broad, 111 W.57th, and Verre. So much epicness that if I had to choose a favorite, it's a time consuming decision.

I do predict an demand in maxillofacial surgeons in the city, due to all the jaws that will have to be repaired after violently smashing against the ground in a stupor of excitement and awe.

NYguy Sep 27, 2017 11:39 PM

Nope, didn't forget about that one at all, and it'll be joining the construction forum soon.

We will have a lot more facade treatment on this one before 45 Broad and 9 Dekalb begin to give us anything though.

The facade is matching the renders!

aquablue Sep 29, 2017 12:06 AM

This will surely be one of the few buildings that the common layperson is interested in looking at. A tower that will be a topic of conversation for tourists and residents given its dimensions and the detail on the facade. People love detail on the facade, that is why modernism is not universally admired.

Wow its amazing.

chris08876 Sep 29, 2017 10:35 AM

I have an idea. Somebody with editing tools should make a clip or time lapse of various pictures of super talls and towers at various stages as they rise. Via stitching the photos so it looks like a time lapse. Example being Verre, all of LIC, CPT, Steinway, Hudson Yards and proxies, and have this song playing in the background. Consolidate them into a video, and have this song in the background. Under fair usage rights of course.

It's the perfect song to describe the NYC boom.

I therefore nominate this as the anthem of the great Deblasio Era / post Bloomberg real estate revolution.

Facade making its way up higher

Close up of the Southern Facade. The mullions have a more noticeable gold color in real life that didn't come out too well in the photograph.

Close up of the Eastern facade. I'm assuming I'm looking at ventilation for a mechanical floor?

My favorite project in NYC right now. Love the details and materials on this one. And if they stick to the lighting scheme in the mock up they built, this will look stunning at night.

mrnyc Oct 16, 2017 1:52 PM

besides the amazing facade, lately its really stepped up out of it's (very complicated site) shell and is clearly visible.

a couple hundred feet more and even the casuals will be noticing. :D

I love this godamn tower, Especially after NYC tore our hearts out by destroying 2 WTC from a classy and and well styled beauty to a STUPID STACK OF BOXES....

anyway

I love this building and the other rendering above and I sincerely hope this signals more ornamentation back into architecture, modern architecture can be so soulless and cold, And I know that is some of the point but I don't like it.

This almost reminds me of art deco in a way.:tup:
