^Nice, that'd be a great get for YYZ.
In less positive news AC has cut their YYZ-NRT service. It looked like they weren't after the YUL expansion but it's now been removed from the schedule: http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/...rvice-changes/ Could open up a door for ANA service though, being the inverse of YVR with AC to Narita and ANA to Haneda. |
Icelandair plans 737 MAX 8 Montreal debut in May 2018.

A boost in frequencies but an overall decline in seats.
I'd imagine they will go daily with the Max quite soon. |

4x weekly B752 this summer vs 5x weekly B7M8 next summer. Last week's airlineroute announcement about Icelandair's Canada increases mentioned YUL going to 6x weekly. No mention of that this week. Will be interesting to see what happens. |

I think they'll 'save' their 757s for the longer haul stuff now - western North America routes that don't need the capacity of a 767. I think the biggest challenge Icelandair faces currently is congestion at KEF. |
Ahh i see, I thought they were sending their 753. I always ran my numbers with that assumption.
Makes much more sense this way! |

It doesn't really bother me too much who plane they use, I just like the idea of seeing a new tail at Pearson.
That being said I'd like to see somebody bring their A350 into Pearson. I've not seen one in person yet. I doubt Cathy will swap their 777s and don't see Singapore Airlines or Finnair commencing routes into Toronto anytime soon. |

That's good to know. I'm planning on going to Scandinavia next summer, and would jump at the chance of flying on an A350 if they're using it on the route.

Porter airlines is opening up a crew base in Thunder Bay, which seems like an odd choice.
They have 6 flights right out to Toronto but willl this allow them to Open up more routes? Possible use Thunder Bay as a scissor hub? Can the q400 reach Ottawa or Montreal from Thunder Bay? Have there been any rumours of them pushing west, Winnipeg? Saskatoon, Regina? |

Flying Air Canada on the 787s direct Toronto to Mumbai in a few weeks and then New-Delhi - Toronto for the return. Will see how that goes.
My last long-long flight I was privileged to ride with Qatar Airways... :slob: |
YYT's contest to share the best story commemorating 75 years of passenger flight at the airport closed today. Nothing announced yet, but it's been cute.
Some really cute ones on their site. Love the woman who was adopted out to Quebec and reunited with her birth family here at the airport. http://www.yyt75.com/ |

Regina, Winnipeg and Saskatoon, certainly, but the Q400 won't make it to Calgary or Edmonton, which would be two big markets they'd be missing out on. The idea of flying direct to downtown Toronto diminishes when you have to do a layover in Thunder Bay. Why bother when Westjet or Air Canada will take you to Pearson and you can take the train downtown? You'll probably come out ahead in travel time that way. I guess they have to try something in the meantime, as Billy Bishop is mandated to hold the status quo for now. Edit: Maybe they're doing what they do for Newfoundland, but out west? |

It just destroys the economics of travel when you're not running full. |
