King and James where the Birks building was
|
Bingo! Two pointer.
Below is the Canada Life Assurance Building (a.k.a. Birks Building) which replaced the lovely, though simple buildings in the above photo. The Bank of British North America stands to the left. Love the hitching posts along James. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswqoiebjc.jpg source |

That's on Catherine between Main and King, right?
|
Don't think there was ever a church on Catherine there. One side was the old transit terminal (present day terminal towers/crowne hotel) and the other was a commercial building beside the connaught, I believe it had a radio station in it?
edit: unless you're referring to captainkirk's photo. Yeah, thats King and Catherine. |
I was talking about the earlier post :P

98 year ago. Note the original Lister building, and 14 James N. under discussion for redevelopment with 10 James. N.

What stands on this lot now is the 'floating box' that houses the Japanese and Vietnamese restaurants. Well done. |
That lot at James and Cannon would be perfect for the building I posted in the dream development thread:
