Pearson (YYZ) cracked the 4 million passenger mark in August. I think for the first time ever!

August 2014 (enpl/depl)

Domestic - 1,697,905
Transborder - 978,184
International - 1,333,032

Overall - 4,009,121 (+8.9%)

Wow YVR only has 300k less international passengers than the mighty Pearson. Very impressive!! :tup:

Increase in pax compared to Aug 2013 - this really shows the huge growth:

Overall up 153,800
Domestic up 81,600
Transborder up 42,800
Asia Pacific up 20,500
Europe up 8,200
Misc int'l up 700

YTD just shy of 1,000,000 more pax than 2013 as well... thought I would throw that in.

And cargo up 13.3%
It looks like YVR's monthly stats count transborder as being a part of international, while YYZ Pearson count them separately. Have I understood this correctly? YYZ has 1.3 million passengers a month travelling abroad in addition to 978k travelling to/from the US?

Correct. International, including transborder for YYZ is 2,331,216. Compared to YVR's 1,006,974.

YVR does report a bit differently - they sub-total transborder, Asia-pacific, Europe and Misc. under international. So to clear it up and report the same way... sorry.

This growth for YVR is long overdue imo since the numbers had a hard time recovering from the recession. Can't wait for YVR to cross 20 million and YYZ to cross 40 million.

YYC will cross 15 million this year. Not sure about YUL.

For YUL, probably near 15 million, more like 14,7.

Oh well. YVR is still per capita on par with YYZ which is still really good.

Westjet announcing daily non-stop flights from Halifax Stanfield to Glasgow International start May 30 and will fly daily until October 24.

Europe Airpost flew direct to Glasgow this summer from Halifax.

Quebec City's airport as it stands today. Construction of the new international terminal is set to begin next year. It will be situated to the left of the main terminal (from the picture's point of view) and will basically double the size of the airport.

Congrats, Halifax!

Westjet is connecting both our cities with the motherland - Dublin and Glasgow respectively.

I just hope they keep both services running. I'm spoiled now. I can't handle adding another 3 hours to Halifax/return or 7 hours to Toronto/return before returning above St. John's en route to Europe. Those days are gone, may they never return. :D
