Enerjet and NewLeaf
Interesting last minute development.
With Newleaf just days away from launch, Enerjet will not be flying any of the Newleaf flights. They were going to be flying the Edmonton based flights except for Hamilton. Flair will now be flying all the Newleaf flights. Have no idea what happened. I did read on airliners.net that Enerjet "walked away" as no agreement could be reached (whether that was with Flair or Newleaf?). No corroborating evidence for that statement though. Enerjet was to be just a small part of the contracted flying but this development would still require a bit of a logistics shuffle last minute. I have been passively following NewLeaf on social media and have noticed they dropped their fares 50% for their opening week of launch (next week) and are "bragging" their first flight from Hamilton to Moncton is sold out. I would bloody well hope all their flights are as at those fares break even would probably be in the 90s. I hate being a pessimist but launching so late in the summer with only one month of heavy leisure travel before Labour Day...... and still no schedules past the end of September..... |
Here are a few pics of YUL, as promised. 19 to 20 heavies on the apron between 4 pm and 8 pm. The international jetty, even though it was newly extended, is full for most of that time. TS and AC regularly have to tow their aircraft onto remote stands or their respective hangars due to lack of space.

Great photo Klazu!

Nice pic Klazu. That's one view we can't replicate at YUL ! The only "terrain" we have (if you can even call it that!) is somewhat evident in that last pic of mine. And yet that dinky hill of ours is enough to restrict right turns off of the 06's. Honestly, if you can't clear Mount Royal out of YUL, even on one engine out, you shouldn't be certified as a commercial aircraft, period ! But i digress. On another note, June numbers for YUL are out. 1,451,600 passengers, up 6.6% compared to June 2015. On track to surpass 16 million passengers this year. YTD 7,867,900 +4.9% http://www.admtl.com/sites/default/f...omm%20T2-A.pdf |

After flying Rouge, I'd do it again, but only with a neck pillow. It's hard to sleep with the only 3 recline |
And NewLeaf is now in business

The inaugural New Leaf flight from Hamilton to Moncton is apparently sold out. |
I wish NewLeaf all the best. It will be good for air travel in Canada if they can get their business strategy to work and offer competitive prices with dependable performance.
|
I used to take WestJet from Hamilton to Moncton during the summer but WestJet cut that route. It seemed busy to me. No surprise it sold out with NewLeaf. I wouldn't be surprised if WestJet brings the route back.
WestJet brought back Hamilton to Edmonton, which starts on the 29th. I wonder why? lol |

Not much for Winnipeg other than an additional weekly flight to Phoenix, going from 4 to 5.

Are any of Flair Airlines' planes to be painted in New Leaf colours? Seems having no visual identity on their planes is a bit odd.

Maybe Flair wants to wait and not be stuck with the bill to change it back. |
Another YVR route to some city in China you've never heard of but has over 6 million people...
Looks like this one will likely take at least one frequency from the existing Chengdu-Shenyang-Vancouver route, at least until the Canada-China bilateral is expanded to allow for more flights. Word is this is what's holding back some of the already applied for flights such as Tianjin-Vancouver, Guanzhou-Toronto, Hangzhou-Qingdao-Vancouver etc... Quote:

Wow. Vancouver to Zhengzhou. That's weird. One of my best friend in Shanghai is from Zhengzhou, Henan, and he says it's a total dump.
