Sourcing building materials locally were also a primary focus, in turn eliminating the project's resulting carbon footprint while offering employment opportunities for local communities.

The house is built on an abandoned farm overlooking the Luberon Valley, a protected regional park with strict guidelines imposing traditional building materials.

The ruins of the farmhouses were preserved so as to frame the new house, while the guesthouse and pool were inserted within the old stone walls. The main house is built with solid sandstone blocks of 50 x 50 x 200cm, quarried next to the Pont du Gard and extracted since Roman times.

These homes really ARE amazing but I feel that they are waste of good design.

I want to make them the bases and/or penthouses of residential towers and repeat the same layout down every floor...

Is that strange?

^ I don't see why not. The Presidio in Vancouver is like that iirc.

The house is separated from the principal residence by a berm, and is connected to it by footpaths. The brief called for a guest house and entertainment facility. It incorporates swimming pools, guest accommodation, spa facilities and general living and poolside areas.

The house is mainly comprised of a glass crescent elevated to "see" above a tall barrier dune towards the Atlantic Ocean. The crescent warps the main interior spaces out allowing peripheral views to the east and west in addition to the dominant view to the south. The crescent is incised with a void containing a terrace producing glass corners that further emphasise views up and down the beach. The terrace void maintains the roof shape of the crescent in the form of flying beams that produce interesting shadows and define this area as a dramatic outdoor room suspended in the sky.
