Was on the webcam today and you can now see the Diegan hotel. I also saw a new crane I have not seen before in the East village. Its on the same street leading from the ballpark as Icon. I have no idea what project it is. Does anyone know?

Urban Sky Mar 13, 2007 12:15 AM

I havent physically been down that way, nor have I seen the webcam, but I would guess that it is either The Main Library or 14th and K because Library Tower isnt slated to begin construction until late 2007.

I said this before, but I like the Manchester Grand Tower... the addition. The roof. Here it is:

Location of the Crane

In the photo you took you can see a 4 story grayish building in the bottom left corner. Across the street from that there is a new crane, and a basement that has been dug relatively deep. Thats what I'm wondering about. The crane is an orangeish color if that helps.

I'm still not seeing it, but I can only guess that you mean mid-way up in the picture, gray building, to the left of ICON. That would probably be the Library. I might be down that way tonight. If so, i'll go check it out and get a few pictures.

Mystery of the Orange Crane

Actually someone else on another board indicated they thought it was this project, and after checking it out I think I agree. As the construction timeline matches the progress, and the deep hole would explain the parking. Oliver McMillan also has another rental project near completion the lofts at 655 and G, you can clearly see that one on the cam.

Lofts at 707 and 10th Ave
Located in downtown San Diego's East Village neighborhood.

Oliver McMIllan has started construction on a seven-story mixed-use project on the north side of G Street between Tenth and Eleventh avenues. The project will contain 209 loft apartments, 7,000 square feet of retail space, and 213 parking spaces. Construction began in September 2006 with completion targeted for spring 2008.

Visit the Web site for this property:

Now for the mystery of a white crane

I know, you win:cool:
Ya know that white crane someone spotted in the webshot next to Diamond View Tower, I think I see it too. Could that be Triangle. According to the CCDC website it was suppost to have started construction. And that would be the only thing that needs a crane down there. Unless Diamond View still has a crane up.

I feel like we are coming up with Hardy Boys Mystery Novel Titles.
