So, if I'm interpreting the design of the Gibson Residences building right, it looks a garage will be built below the Church Street viaduct and the 21 story tower itself will be on top of it at street level. Am, I correct?

The GR will add a nice balance to that area and help to create a nice visual approach along Church Street heading into Nashville Yards. It will help stretch the skyline inside the loop westward and create depth.

It appears so.

For some reason, official height for buildings built in the Gulch seems to be measured from the level of the adjoining bridge (viaduct) and not actually from the ground. The viaduct is where the entry usually is, but disregards the height from the actual ground.

This was just revealed this morning on the Nashville Development Tracker (dozens of drawings). It is a 30+ story office at 400+ ft. on the Korean Veterans Blvd. roundabout. The developer, Lincoln Properties is seeking an allowance for extra height and I would suspect it would be approved.

WOW!!

... and no, that isn't just a poor quality rendering, the buildings are actually made to look as if they're tilted. haha

A more interesting view of the above mentioned office building project.

REALLY NICE!

Nashville and Charlotte are neck and neck for No. 2 city in the Southeast (outside of Florida).

Well one step back for Nashville...

Disappointing news about this one. It is on hold temporarily in spite of securing loans obtaining the land. The owners, who were prepared to build it without a tenant lined up, are now concerned that many companies looking at Nashville to relocate or open branches may be holding off until the economic climate settles down.
It's a shame that this particular building is not a go for the moment as it would be a perfect fit in the dense little mid-rise neighborhood just off world famous Music Row. I call the neighborhood 'Taylor Town' named after its most famous resident. Nobody else calls it that although they should.
The building was named after Elvis Presley's guitar player (Roy Moore) who had a recording studio on the lot.

Not surprising on the Moore Building given that building spec space is already risky, but now the world has changed without a clear road ahead.

Glad to hear of a new announcement for another tall building. Not impressed with the design. But, I guess combining two parallelogram shaped boxes is better than a standard box.

It's a little of the box (pun intended) for Gresham Smith. But, they tend to alter their final designs, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if the design stays the same. I wish they would go for 35 stories instead of requesting 30 stories.

It's been a few weeks since the last (spectacular) high-rise announcement, but this one makes up for it. From the Nashville Business Journal (which I check daily). Sorry about the paywall, but you can see the headline and a rendering.

The Hines Group out of Houston Texas bought the old Jim Reed Dealership property in Nashville's booming Midtown and are getting city approvals for the scope of the project.

I count seven towers!! This area is going to be changed drastically if this is completed along with several other proposals for this area. Broadwest and the 19th and Broadway project are underway.....

Next, we need to get that little piece of property in the triangle developed with an iconic high rise that retains the long time 'iconic' billboard at that corner that always tells what stars have released new albums.

PillowTalk4 May 11, 2020 6:36 PM

I actually preferred the iconic Coca Cola sign that was there long before the digital billboard. :)

I've been reading about the proposed Reed property development on Urban Planet. You're right, if the developers are able to build all that they are at least contemplating at this very early stage in the process, it will definitely change Mid-town as we know it. And, I suspect it would impact the whole area between Charlotte and Broadway up to 21st Ave. for decades to come. With the skyline shifting westward, we just might see a continuation of the skyline on into Mid-town with the only break being I-40.

But, just an FYI... according to some posters on UP, the developers of Broad West are already gearing up to fight the Reed property development based on site obstruction. I don't think they stand a chance in hell of winning such a battle, but they may be positioning themselves for one nonetheless.

The Hyatt Centric in SoBro is making its appearance, even though it is mostly hidden except when viewed from the south and east.

From the south over a lot that has MASSIVE potential.

Great capture showing Amazon #1 on the left with the red crane, Asurion's new HQ on bottom left, the large pit for a majority of Nashville Yards' multiple towers, and the Grand Hyatt on the right.

Thank you, MidTenn1, for the updates on our awesome city. You do an amazing job, and I love seeing all the cards and renderings that you make! I'm sure a ton of work goes into them.

Thanks, MIRYDI. We sure miss your contributions from a few years ago, but I understand life gets in the way. I do all this stuff on Power Point and it's a creative outlet so I enjoy making these cards to help get out the news about how amazing this city is and always has been.

I like this design. It appears as two towers connected by a bridge way on each floor. I wish they would make it taller because I think it would be more impressive at 30 to 40 stories. Even just one of the towers being 10 stories taller would have more of striking impact on the skyline. But that more than likely won't happen.

MidTenn1 May 15, 2020 7:53 PM

Well, it's Friday and we have another high rise announcement. Alerted by Urban Planet and pictures from the Nashville Development Tracker.
