Incredible. I love LA so much after a big, cold storm

Murphy de la Sucre Dec 30, 2019 12:31 AM

Some rare angles looking good.

Some great shots!
I love the snow in SoCal. You can see it, and drive to it, but you don’t have to live in it.

Nice!

Wonderful pictures! It make me homesick for LA being up in SF.

You always manage to capture shots of LA that give a good vibe....that photo is of the lobby of the Nomad hotel on 7th st, the former Bank of america bldg...giannini bldg....that had sat vacant & rundown for yrs.

I was at the remodeled plaza of the music ctr not too long ago & saw a case of form over function....the openings for the trees are so small, i don't think the tree trunks will fit their spaces when they grow larger. the way their openings seem like an afterthought is due to what?...the designers not thinking everything through carefully enough? But the revamped space still is better than what it used to be....hope the area attracts enough ppl to keep the new restaurants & bars doing well.

Beautiful shots Pwright1!!!! I LOVE THAT YOU GOT THOSE CRISP PHOTOS RIGHT AFTER THE STORMS HIT!!!!! Like a filter that ALWAYS washed out the smog and filth of the city! I live very close to KH park and where you took that first picture of DTLA from is one of my FAVORITE locations where I would go to observe the impact of any new towers bieng built the skyline! I also love the later East Side shots that show the elongating of the skyline by the South Park towers and the way the Perla is impacting the skyline, cant wait to see the Frank Ghery project and the Brookfield tower's impact on the skyline also! Any way thank you for all the AMAZING photos! Much love and respect!

This photo thread on chicago gives me examples of why pwright's way of taking images, by comparison, is preferable to me....

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=241269

I don't have a good sense of chicago the way pwright's pics give a good sense of LA. Too many shots of that midwestern city are so generalized or vague they could be anywhere USA. Or they somehow don't flatter Chicago as much as pwright's pics flatter LA.

I'd call the pics in that thread on chicago as more typical of what's seen in alot of coffee table books.

however, to each his own....

wow --- so nice to see the place with a great eye and a real camera vs my crappy old iphone lol.

Thanks Citywatch. According to a worker at the Music Center, the tiles around the trunks of the trees can be removed as the trees grow.
I love your Chicago pics.

I love those interior shots!

just to clarify, pw, I prefer your style of photography more than those of another forumer, southbysouthwest, who did the chicago thread. but, yes, ymmv.

If I didn't live in LA or chicago, I'd say your pics give a better, friendlier sense of LA than the photos of chicago give of that city. however, you may judge the images of chicago as similar in tone to yours of LA....but personally southbysouthwest's shots give me less of a nice, charming sense of chicago.
