First phase of Journal Squared residential project kicks off

The first phase of Journal Squared, a trio of residential towers in the works for Jersey City, broke ground Monday.

The 54-story tower at 615 Pavonia Avenue will contain 540 of the three-tower project’s planned 1,840 apartments. Upon completion, the development will span a total of 2.3 million square feet and contain a mix of retail, restaurants, lobbies and parking in the base of the three buildings. The tallest tower, at 70 stories, is on track to snag a Garden State record for its height.

The developer acquired the five-story, 101-square-foot building at 30 Journal Square in recent months, the blog New York Yimby reported.
A spokesperson for Kushner told The Real Deal that the building was purchased for $2.5 million.
Douglas Elliman served as the broker. The tower will step down toward the iconic structure, according to designs from architect Ismael Leyva.

Trust reveals plans for stalled twin Jersey City towers

A property trust has released updated renderings of a long-delayed project in Jersey City’s Journal Square neighborhood.
Multi-Employer Property Trust, associated with Washington, D.C.-based real estate firm Landon Butler, is developing the site at City Center, also known as One Journal Square. The original design by architectural firm Humphreys & Partners depicted twin 60-story buildings connected by a skybridge.
New renderings that YIMBY picked up, however, are more detailed and no longer show a walkway between the buildings.
Another developer was supposed to break ground on the development in 2007. But construction on the site was frozen by the economic downturn. The planned towers would house 1,500 residential units and 150,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, according to previous reports.

I checked it. Looks about right. Will you be adding height data in?

I'm assuming your only doing highrises and not midrises? A couple of 6-10 floor projects are missing, but if its for high rises, looks pretty accurate.

I'm tempted not to - let's be different. Another pet peeve of mine is when a 60 storey building has a height of 1100 ft. The two 95 storey towers Jersey City has is most impressive, even though both may fall short of 1000ft.

Now, if the ultra rare event that the New York Times article about Liberty Rising being as tall or taller than the World Trade Center, I'll definitely add that height to that one. LoL!! Can you imagine the tallest building in the New York City metro being outside NYC? :runaway:

JERSEY CITY -- Jersey City is about to get a lot more crowded.

The city is expecting nearly 3,000 residential units to come online before the end of the year, while developers are expected to break ground on another 3,000 in the next 10 months.

The new additions will include a 950-foot condominium tower on Hudson Street that will be the tallest building in New Jersey, a 50-story high-rise outside the Grove Street PATH station and a 448-unit tower in Liberty Harbor North that will rise 44 stories.

'SUCCESS CANNOT BE MATCHED'

The list of buildings opening or breaking ground in Jersey City this year changes so rapidly it's hard to keep track.
