Phoenix | Moon Tower | 250 FT | 25 Floors
This looks like a done deal with the LPRN getting issued. Giving it it's own thread. I think it will be about 255' as that's the height limit for the lot I believe. However, the developers did submit an FAA reviews for 275', so will keep title as is until the final height can be verified.

I love these projects that fly under the radar and then all of a sudden, pop up and break ground!
Love the brick facade on the garage levels  |
Are we assuming a pool level above the grey middle section?
|
Location is 807 N. 3rd Street for anyone trying to find it. Looks like that main empty lot plus maybe will remove one building (not either of them on the corners).
Is that shipping container project across the street? |

It looks like the FAA came to a determination for the 275 ft. height proposal for Moontower. Does this mean it was approved?

Edit/Correction: Pulled up my downtown height zoning map and the lot is actually 250'. However, it's only 1/2 block North of the end of the 450' zone. If it goes before city council, I don't see them having an issue with it. However, at 25 floors, I guess the tower could still be in the 250' range and probably doesn't need a height increase. |

Looks like a demo permit was issued yesterday.
http://apps-secure.phoenix.gov/PDD/S...umber=21016713 It references a structural relocation in addition to demo. Is something from this parcel being relocated? |
I'm certain that's a mistake. Maybe the reviewer confused it for Skye or it's just boilerplate they never edit.

Any update on whether the FAA approved the adjustment to 275'?

The box office was rubble when I walked by this afternoon. One lane on 3rd St Southbound is blocked, I’m assuming until the tower nears completion.

Pretty awesome new photo of what MoonTower might look like. https://azbigmedia.com/real-estate/l...ntown-phoenix/ |
I like these towers that take up most of the half block but leave parcels open for vintage buildings and unique retail spaces. Not everything by any stretch of the imagination should be in the base of a high-rise.
|
The new rendering is a bit disappointing in my opinion compared to the old images. The color palette was really dark and gave off a nice industrial aesthetic, now its really kind of washed out looking and just kind of blends in with Link 1 and II. Also there is less brick, not seeing the metal panels anymore, and substantially less glass.
On a positive note, I like all the balconies that were added. They had some before, but looks like they tripled the amount from previous renderings. |

It'll do a great job filling a gap in the Skyline from I-10 heading west on the curve before the airport. Anybody know if there is an official groundbreaking date?

I guess you guys missed my post last week. Construction is to commence within 2 weeks of the demo of the Valley Youth Theater building. They are currently grading the lot, so I would imagine they are on schedule to stick with their 2 week schedule.

Tower crane base already getting put in for Moontower. These guys are moving super fast!
|
This one sure does look like Austin's Moon Tower, though, taller than ours.

Looks like we might be getting a crane this weekend. Couple of trucks on site this morning with crane components and quite a few personnel.

I used to be out there all the time, then work picked up and it got hot. Once it starts cooling down, I'll be out there again. |
