Hi everyone, well i'm new at this forum and i decided to sign in to share some proyects and get some advices about sketch up... i think thats all. This proyect is a city that i have named Saint Tiago City. Here is the first image a took. I hope you like it and please comment all your opinions!

Hi, I have some more pictures of the city, I just did three buildings which I will add textures later but I also added some "digital" billboards to the Time Square place which I decided to name Metro Square.

Hi there, I have now done a biggest progress. I textured the buildings that I showed to you and added a few more next them and near Metro Square. Well I think the city is big enough to start giving names to the districts and buildings. This district I have been showing you is the downtown and I have named Glass District, Metro Square will be located in Sanhattan. These two districts are financial districts (but Sanhattan will be a more turistic district), later i will make some residential neighbourhoods.

Thanks. I really need some comment, I was starting to think I was losing my time posting my city :). I have here some more pictures, the first one is a residential zone which needs a name, the second is Saint Tiago City Hall and its based on Toronto's City Hall (which I saw first in a Resident Evil movie and I liked a lot.) and the last one is the terrain, now with a beach and water. Hope you like it!

Hi again, I have made a lot of pogress since yesterday. First I added some more residential buildings in the residential distric which i have called Wellington ) I also added an airport in a corner and its called the J. P. Williamson International Airport and for last I have started another district which i have called Costanery. I think it will be like a shopping district with a lot of turism. I have also made a map of the city from the top so you can identify the disctricts easily.

Hi, I have made some more progress. First I planified the city streets and added a suburb zone which is delimited frome the downtown zone by a highway. I also made some houses in the suburbs and also made a school. Here are the pictures.

Hi again, I have made some new buildings near the city hall, I don't know yet if they are going to be part of the Glass District or it will be another disctrict (so if you have opinions please go ahead :) ) I have also expanded Wellington with some new residential buildings and added some more houses at the suburbs (it is slower than I thought)

Well i think the city is big enought to make an history for it. So let's start!

It was founded in 1963 and destinated to be a large and modern city and an international commericial center.

It is located in the west coast between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
It's population is 7.428.590.

I named it St Tiago City for Santiago, Chile's capital.

Start making progress. Probably you can make a section of the city called Southhill? It's a modern-type district with a tower called 1 Southhill Square. Most buildings are glass-walled.

That's a good name, I like it. I think I will use it on the district of the photos i showed you. Thanks for the idea. By the way, does this Southhill district really exist?

hi there for the ones that were waiting for an update (if there is someone because these part of the forum is kind of abbandonated :( ) I have some new pictures of the new district I've named Southill, (thanks verizon tower for the idea) I'm thinking that it will be a kind of mix of residential and commercial district. I have also started a new district which it's still unnamed but its a college district with dorms, classroom buildings, and things like that, in the picture you can se two dorm buildings, a soccer stadium, the science building (is the big one on the right) the humanist studies building (the one of the left of the plaza) and the main university building (the long one behind the plaza) and it's library (behind the main building) I took so to make this update because the university buildings took me a lot of time.

This is coming along really nice! Keep it up! The layout looks really good as do the buildings. I like that you've also modeled areas outside the downtown area. The downtown is a bit too crowded for my taste, perhaps it could use more variation in building height and mass. There are some really nice designs in there, so maybe giving them more space they would be more visible landmarks.

thanks! thats a nice comment. About the over-crowded nI think you are right, but I can't do anything since the downtown is quite advanced, so I will try to make the new disctrics less crowded. Thanks for the advise. Happy new year by the way!

Keep up the work on Southill! First, I want a St. Tiago World Trade Center that echoes the new World Trade Center in New York. It's all Southill!

I also want a new district. It's called LoFo and it houses a large density of supertall commercial towers. I also want a huge park named Greenfort Park. It's five times the size of Central Park.

I like the idea of a wtc and the name of the park, I think it will be good for the big green are near the beach, abouth the LoFo district, I don't think i would make more supertall towers since the Glass District and Costanery had a lot of them. So, it could be a medium-sized height disctrict maybe? Thanks for your help!

I have finished the new university disctrict near Southill, It's called Mayday Village, and it's has low and medium buildings. It also has a church, a sports center, a stadium, a theater and concert hall and some apartment buildings.

Try making a night render of the skyline.

LoFo will be a medium-sized district, of course and just start on the WTC! Come up with a glass-modern design like 1WTC has.

The first render is looking very good! Nice ethereal feel. Only distracting thing is that piece of a dark surface just in front of the camera. Be sure to choose your views carefully. But all in all very beautiful! Keep on rendering.

Btw. what renderer do you use?

Just to keep it going, I think you should make a WHOLE lot of renders and a render video.

Thanks! i use maxwell to render and yes that black rectangle is quite ugly, i will be more carefull next time. im working on a render of Metro SQuare at night and i think it will be awesome with a lot of billbords and street lights. im also working on a new district wich will be lowsized with old buildings. im also workin in th wtc verizon

In my opinion it looks very good ;) But you should try to render it more often ;)

Thanks! I will postmore diagram picture! I have made the WTC in south hill, is based on one of the new WTC buildings in New york, I also started the new old styled district with some buildings fro 5 to 10 floors, i also added some row houses, like the ones in greenwich village, in NY

Good renders! That Metro Square render has a really tight urban feel and the second one has nice lightness to it. I like how you're mixing in older buildings as well.

I'm suggesting some new minor changes for the WTC. First, delete the logo. Second, make sister towers for the WTC. Third, add mechanical floors on the current tower and then add a spire. I also want 10 skyline renderings.

First off, love the city, really wish I had the time to do this. My cities have at most 3-4 textured buildings. One thing that would be cool is from a boat on the ocean, to do a skyline shot.

I have made a new district near the sea called St James, is a medium residential apartment zone with a lot of green spaces, I also started an industrial zone near the airport and named the old district Eastown

Nice! That kind of photo is exactly what I was looking for. Seriously the progress made on this city is nothing short of awe inspiring.

You're making good progress, the city is starting to look really big. I'd like to see more height variation in the skyline, though. The layout looks quite realistic.

Keep the updates coming. And also give us a render once in a while.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I agree with you with the height variation, I hopethat with the new low and mid heights districts the skyline would look better, and if you want I will do some more renders, i just need to find good shots!

This is a small update, I have advanced the industrial district and started making a new district, the buildings on the left are part of Costanery, the ones closer are part of the new district, I think it would be like a Chinatown or Little Italy styled district.

This is a street view of costanery, as you can see there's a lot of shops ( I think I will add more detailes later)

Nice additions to the city. I especially like the industrial area with the airport.

I'm looking forward to seeing how big this city will get. It is already quite large.

finally I could finish texturing the Soho like district which is called (NoDis for north district) and thee cheap district called Lackton, also made two suburbs neighbourhoods, Sainborough and Greenheights, and made some landcape. The urbanization of the city is over, it is getting difficul to add buildings since the size of the city is very large and it is having a lot of bugs. I also made the final district map; i think i will make a tourist map and a street map later.
