Stationlands in Edmonton is 125 m (137 m with spires), I've seen them do some prep work or servicing on that lot.
Icon II - no idea how tall this one is. I think it is around 120+ m. Ian? |
I saw Icon on the Edmonton List , but not Station lands.
Icon came in at 112 Meters. |

Minto Midtown -160 Meters will be finished in a couple of months.
That should free up some space for some other projects in The big 3 or Montreal & Edmonton. Cross your fingers. |

^born in ottawa and knowing it well i feel your pain. I absolutely cannot stand when "skyscraper/development aficionados" make comments about cities who have significant restrictions.
Edmonton has quite a lot going on...but height isnt one of them for reasons out of our control. |
Glad to see we're keepin' it civil.

Don't worry Stationlands will be on the list as soon as we get confirmation. and..... look at Vancouver, with regards to hieght limits, so you never know. And... They might just shut that airport down. - It doesn't make sense for a city the size of Edmonton to have 2 airports. It's ridiculous. |
^ That argument has been going on for the past 10-15 years.
The best we can hope for immediately, is the closure of a runway. |

"It would be kinda weird to see Edmonton on this list, you are booming, but you seem to have been left far behind the rest of the country in highrise comstruction."
fuck you no insult |
Can someone explain to the meaning of this list? How is it inclusive? Where is the Bow? It doesn't make sense, many if not all of these buildings aren't even u/c!
|
Bow is on the 1-10 list....
I dont know about the other cities, but all the Vancouver buildings mentioned are U/C |
Quote:
The reason I made this list was to track the construction progress of tall buildings across Canada that are not on the 1-10 list. I said inclusive , because of just Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver we get more Canadian cities included and more forumers included. Even though...in the end it was still mainly Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. ..anyways... start posting your pictures of the Montreal building on the list. btw: all the buildings on the list are U/C |

i would rather have more towers than fewer with more height. |

at 14 floors on January 20, 2008... now it's 15 (around the same level as Bay/Adelaide and RBC?) http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...7/IMG_3555.jpg crane seen from McGill University (12th bla bla) on December 20, 2007 http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...C/IMG_3265.jpg To me the building is basically the Verve (Toronto) with beige instead of green, and dark grey instead of white. |

I find it quite bland, the rendering made it seem like it was going to e quality, this looks like yet another pre-fab concrete mindless skyscraper that we've benn getting these past few years :(
|
^i love the density of calgary's but honestly find Edmonton's much more balanced and given the river valley for more photogenic.
however, the quality and volume of recent projects in calgary does make me green with envy. |

Some home town biases on this site are so funny. It's obvious that at some point in the last economic boom in Alberta that Calgary's skyline surpassed Edmonton's in style, height, balance, and scale. Their really is no question about it. And if Edmonton's was so photogenic, why do I have a tough time picturing it without googling it? I mean if I saw a picture of it I'd know what city I'm looking at, but if somebody asked me to make a simple sketch I wouldn't know where to begin. Calgary on the other hand I could get most of it right. Sorry for perpetuating this argument, when I get home I'll try and ad something a bit more constructive. |
^not hometown bias...seriously.
|
It just seems small town compared to Calgary. And each year the gap gets greater and greater. Actually it reminds me a lot of North Yorks Skyline.

Funny, an Edmonton /Calgary Rivalry? Now there's a new one!
It's part of our heritage. No matter what, Edmonton is better than Calgary, in every aspect, simply because I'm from Edmonton. They teach this in schools here. And visa versa, if I was from Calgary... But it's an intimate feud. Only those who enjoy S&M would understand. And in this case, calgary is our bitch. :D These arguments are a part of Canadian history. Your watching a longstanding tradition carry out here folks. Admission should be charged! |
without turning this into an off-topic...the shear length of the skyline is ridiculous and almost impossible to capture in a decent shot....

My God, this thread is flooded with testosterone.
I'm really surprised how close that Montreal tower is being built to its neighbour. |

^incorrect.

SSP is as close to accurate as possible ... I made sure of it!
Cities/12+ storeys Toronto - 1677 Vancouver - 626 Montreal - 500 Calgary - 227 Edmonton - 224 The boom in Calgary over the last several years is killing you! |
Montreal would be at around 600-650. Maybe 700 but that's a stretch.

Sorry to step in here.. but emporis database reports:
Calgary 221 High Rise Edmonton 235 High Rise Calgary - 21 U/C Edmonton - 8 U/C When all is finished being built - Calgary will apparently have one more tower than Edmonton. See emporis.com for their definition of Tower. |
Emporis is by far the most inaccurate site for skyscrapers. As more and more buildings are added to SSP's lists, it will be the primary source for skyscrapers for most cities.
|
What is the point of this discussion, in it's current form?
Calgary has nice shinny office towers, and Edmonton doesn't have as many. Calgary has some more height, a big obsession for those in Calgary compensating for something else. Point? There is none. So everyone (cold, johnnyc) untie the knot in your collective panties. And yes, that post was an insult, though, not direct, it certain was there, and intentional. Far far far behind every other city in Canada, but only if looking at Vancouver, Toronto or Calgary? Didn't realize these were the only cities in Canada. Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Ottawa, montreal, London, Hamilton, etc, pay attention, according to JohnnyC, you don't exist in Canada. |
it says city hall phase 2 is approved, which is clearly not true..
|
I'm a little confused. SSP lists a highrise as either greater than 12 stories or greater than 35m tall.
Given that definition and consolidated to CMA (roughly): Toronto - 2140 Vancouver - 980 Montreal - 632 Ottawa - 398 Calgary - 262 Edmonton - 248 Hamilton - 153 Winnipeg - 141 London - 119 Halifax - 79 Kitchener - 63 Quebec City - 59 Windsor - 51 Victoria - 48 Saskatoon - 46 St. Catherines - 41 Regina - 39 |

I count 226 12+ storey buildings for Edmonton and Calgary is obviously really outdated - tarjan pointe is not under construction |
