Nice first post to kick off the next 10,000. But why would I want to hug Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole?

I hate all of the street abbreviations (SoCo, etc), but at least I know what they are. WTF is UNO?
Thanks for the photos! |

What's going on here? |
Good golly, so many cranes and projects going up; we didn't see this much ten years ago!
I also have to say that Austin sort of reminds me of Vienna, seeing the bike share program at the end of your photos (can't put it into words). |

My camera has been acting up. I can't get it to zoom in or out and I can't change the settings, so I can't adjust for light.

The picture of the project off (east?) 6th, looks like a chicago hood'. |
This lot behind the IHOP is some prime real estate. This has got to be the last significant piece of land in the Rainey area that doesn't have something planned for it.

Looks like 35 was practically deserted on that pic of the I35 bridge over the river. What time was that picture taken? I think I 'll plan my next trip downtown whatever time that was...and day of week.

Hey I did a quick guestimate on the amount of feet being built in Austin as far as UC buildings over 100ft. I could be off by like..600ft or so but it looks like something around 3,700 ft all together.
We could either have the single tallest building in the world, or have 37 100ft buildings throughout the city, how cool would that be?! |

That's awesome editing Kevin. I miss being able to do that...I have a Sunday off in a few weeks...looks like the best time and day to explore.

Any updates of the Lamar Union and when it's suppose to open? It hasn't gotten too much buzz lately, but I'm really excited for it!

A CVC height determination request was filed today for 416 W. 11th Street. The site is currently a surface parking lot:

The new PTA building's address will be 408 West 11th, however the parking lot at 416 West 11th is directly adjacent so yes this is probably for the new, larger PTA building. Marketing flyer from Oxford's website is below: http://oxco.reapplications.com/filec...h%20Street.pdf |

Now that The Thinkery is finished, I wonder how long before the 2nd Street Austin Children's Museum is sold, demolished, and redeveloped. That's a prime location.

Went on a bike ride today trying to catch as many projects as I could. Bear with me, I'm bad with keeping track of the names of all these buildings.. the fact that I'm having trouble is a good thing!
Today's ride was one of the best I've ever had in Austin and I saw a ton of cyclists out there today both on quiet neighborhood streets and busier thoroughfares despite the strong winds. Love it! I thought that parking garage was going to have an outside finish to it. Please tell me it isn't yet finished.

Wow! It looks just like a parking garage.

I drove around and checked out all of the projects today. I didn't take any pictures, but here are some observations:
Everything's really coming together in southwestern downtown. The library is making significant progress. They've got the walls of the hole largely boarded up. I don't think it will be long before we see them laying the foundation. I couldn't see much of Seaholm, but I could tell that a lot has changed since we last saw pictures of it. It's moving along at a really fast pace, too. The more time I spent in southwestern downtown, the more clear it became to me how much it is going to transform Austin. We're talking about something we've never had in Austin; real unity with the rest of downtown. A seamless integration. No more disjointedness. The Bowie is legitimately a highrise at this point. It's huge. A lot more glass has been added. Its size catches you off guard sometimes and you just go: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PrvQzCwG63...y-damn-gif.gif IBC Bank looks just about topped out. It's a very good size. It's strange to think that not long ago nothing was there. It fits in perfectly in the area. It's good infill. Speaking of infill... The Lamar mixed-use parking garage development is almost done and actually doesn't look half-bad. The old retro-looking rendering with the grey walls and orange dots that we have is way off. They did very well with the color scheme. It's earthy and looks like wood. The building doesn't look great, but it blends in, so you hardly notice/care that it's a parking garage. I wish that could be said for many other parking garages in Austin, which stick out like sore thumbs. The Starbucks in the northeast corner of the W hotel is finally open! I know it's just a Starbucks but it goes a long way toward drawing everything together and creating a more lively street Life. Before, people had no reason to go to that side of the street. Now they do. That whole area was swarming with all types of people today. It was nice to see. Broadstone at the Lake (AKA the former RunTex site) has some walls up now. The more I go by there, the more I feel like it will be some of the most prized rental space in Austin. It's right across from Auditorium Shores, right by the lake, literally down the street from city hall, downtown without being too much in the middle of everything. It's a very significant development, along with The Catherine, which will have the best views of the skyline in all of Austin (I'm calling it). All-in-all, it's incredibly exciting to see all of this development going on right now. This is what we wished and hoped for and it's happening (cue the Ron Paul gif). When this round of development is done, we will have a radically transformed city. If you went away for 10 years and came back, you might find it almost unrecognizable. |

Sort of. You can kinda see it in audiomuses picture:
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps3158d270.jpg I really hope they stay away from the orange dots thing. I don't know what those are about. |

Dick Clark Arch has this listed under "On The Board," but all they have is this one picture. Anyone have any other info?
It's called South First Multifamily. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...k.png~original http://www.dcarch.com/#on-the-boards_8 |
Not very attractive.
