Awesome photos. One question - where is that "London's Metro" photo located? I know it's not Ilderton, Poplar Hill, Delaware, or Komoka.

Is it somewhere in Elgin County?

To be honest, I have no idea. I'm going to assume somewhere near the Middlesex/Elgin county line.

After much time painstakingly going back and forth between google maps, and this website I figured it out!!!:banana:

It is Union, a village south of St. Thomas in Elgin County. The road down the middle is Sparta Line heading East, and in the centre is the intersection with Sunset Rd. that goes south (right) to Port Stanly, and north (left)to St. Thomas.

Any reward for my efforts?:jester:

Anyone agree with me that the Talbot Centre looked so much better with the old pink rooftops? When did they change? I came home for a visit a while ago and was like WTF

I agree with you 100%. I think they were changed last year. Not sure why they decided to change it though.

The blue roofs look ok but pink was so much better... plus it went with the window tints on the buildings.

That photo made me instantly think of some depressed american city in Michigan. haha.

Yeah Vic Park can get pretty desolate when there's nothing going on.

Walked through it at night many times. I would actually be kinda scared if I was by myself... a lot of weird types lurk there when the sun goes down.

There are thousands of buildings you can download on the net for Simcity 4. Two models of One London Place have been made. The one posted there looks the best of the two in my opinion.

wicked. I was a longtime SimCity Addict, going way back to SimCity 2000, played on my 386 with a boot disk on account of memory limitations.

^one of the better vantage points. A real good vantage point is towards the north end of Wortley Road, at least at times of the year where foliage is not blocking the view.

My favorite vantage point is from Riverside out front of Mt Pleasant cemetery, but it's best in Spring and Fall before the leaves come out but without snow.

Like on the Wortley Road overpass? Seems like a good spot. If I get a chance I'll snap a few photos there before the trees bud.


Here's one shot of the London Skyline I took from Commissioners and Warncliffe last year at Basil Grover Park (AKA the Toilet Bowl):

Just wish I had a better zoom lens for the DSLR. My point'n'shoot is 10x but the picture quality simply can't compare to single lens reflex.

I've got you all beat. I started playing SimCity before it was called SimCity. It was originally called "A-Train", and I played it on a 386 as well.

Here's a video I took from the Wortley Road overpass. It provides a fairly good vantage point of downtown, even in the summer with all the foliage.

That big "Good Morning" shot is actually one of the nicest London pictures I've seen in ages, haljackey. I've always thought London's downtown is best seen from within downtown itself and your shot is a perfect example of that. Good stuff.

And to keep this skyline business rollin, here is an ugly picture of London-Town from the Adelaide overpass:

Funny how all the real fuglies in the skyline cluster on the eastern side (e.g., those horrid concrete apt towers with the different style for the uppermost floors...one is featured above with a satellite dish atop a mast: a beacon for captain ugliness). Those colborne towers are fugly too.

Ugh, why do you torture me! I have to look at those ugly apartment towers on the east end of downtown every day!:haha:

I can't seem to recognize any of those buildings in the first one, accept for London Life way at the back!

Is that the TD building on the right side of the second one? I thought it wasn't built untill the late 80's.:shrug:

The building with the TD sign on the top is still there, but it's harder to see now from a distance now because of Citi Plaza. I'm guessing the Dominion building was demolished in the late 80s, after Dominion was bought out by A&P.

The other interesting thing in the photo is the old-school traffic signals.

That was completed around 1973, and for a time was the corporate headquarters of Canada Trust.

WOW!!! CTB! way back in the day. Still on the buses.

Quite the sight! Wellington underpass not ravaged by potholes and crackheads. :D
