The "Then and Now" photos will be a gradual work in progress as I sort through nearly 15 years of photos of The City of Trees. Get your Finger Steaks ready and enjoy! |
You’re off to a good start. Nice photos.

The Basque City
Here's to hoping Payette releases another Basque Beer for this years San Inazio Festival or next years worldwide Jaialdi festival. And, hopefully Boise will host another Basque Soccer Friendly @ Albertsons Stadium. https://www.basquesoccerfriendly.com/ https://twitter.com/basquesoccer?lang=en https://www.jaialdi.com/ https://www.basquecenter.com/san-inazio/ BoiseBeer Sean, on Flickr |

December 2008
This mural was in one of the windows @ The Egyptian Theatre during Christmas 2008. It was from a fellow Boisean, Anthony Doerr, who is of course an author and a Pulitzer Prize winner. Fast forward 13 years later, we have experienced insane growth, a city that is becoming more and more urban and a downtown that other cities look to and admire, and I still feel Boise exemplifies the qualities in the mural. This city has a great high self esteem, unlike other(s) on this forum who seem to always compare themselves to other cities. We always hear Boise is the next Austin, Seattle and/or Portland, but Boise is Boise, we are our own brand and other cities of similar size are trying to find ways to be more like Boise. Thanks for this thread! I'm looking forward to more of the then and now photos.

Downtown
2018 This is a view of the East Downtown area between the CBD and Broadway Avenue. This section of Downtown is also known as The Central Addition LIV District and is currently undergoing an apartment construction boom in addition to the proposed The London condo tower. 2021 photos of this view are on my radar. Also, Photobucket has restored many of my older photos from 2006 to 2010 (lost in limbo after they had a server update) so a lot more then and now are on the way. that middle shot is the angle i'm most eager to see with all of the new construction in that area. just think that most of the buildings along that corridor didn't exist 10 years ago. i can't imagine that shot if the londoner gets built, too.
boise's skyline is still very squat, but it is quite long. if the proposals for the West End get built, downtown will stretch for 2.5 miles from whitewater avenue to parkcenter blvd. |

Nice aerial!
I'm going to be hiking up to Table Rock for some sunset photos this week and will get some updates of the skyline. |
