That there are and in particular for rooflines, materials and overall aesthetic.

It's a denser vision than Bayside on QQE in Toronto. It's surrounded by parks however, it's not like this development is contributing all that much to that open space.

Had I described it as large you would have argued that it was actually small. Had I called it tall you would have said it was short, if it was clad in crimson red panels and I said I like that it's red you would have said it's actually blue. No matter what I post you feel the need to post a negative alternative view almost right away. You do it to about 95% of the things I post. It's like you are unable to troll, something in you drives you to be negative to certain forumers constantly. So no offence but I don't care about your views anymore because they will always be the opposite of whatever I post. I'm boycotting interacting with you from here on out.

Feel free to respond as I won't be reading your posts anymore Whipper, I'm tired of you.

All the best, Drew.

WhipperSnapper Dec 12, 2023 11:08 PM

not this again.

Of course, you would think that post over the scale of that development would be all about you. You are not important enough for me to troll you if I were to troll any individual. I respond to posts over who and where. There's far too much who and where on this forum. I'll have to take your word on 95%. If that's the case than you post a lot info that I persoanlly find garbage warranting a response.

Strong chalet vibe with each one 'cept the Setller's Block and the finish quality is impressive.

never thought we'd see the day when Kitchener would have a 55 story tower... This is awesome!

Approved with no/no discussion at Council, apparently.

Kitchener is one of those cities most Canadian's including Ontarians know very little about. Unless you're from there or went to school there that is. Crazy it's getting such a vertical skyline.

WhipperSnapper Dec 13, 2023 5:09 AM

Second rate Kirkor design. Oversized parking podium. Density of 20 times coverage. 630 units and 5 elevators. Ugh.

vanman Dec 13, 2023 6:01 AM

I like the tower but the podium is horrendous.

Hawrylyshyn Dec 13, 2023 3:40 PM

Yup. What's driving all this growth in that region?

WhipperSnapper Dec 13, 2023 5:26 PM

It's a proposal boom at this point. The increase in construction in downtown Kitchener has pretty much shifted from Waterloo. All these proposals breaking ground in short order would be bad for construction in Toronto.

ScreamingViking Dec 13, 2023 6:17 PM

What is the [equally?] tall neighbour? Just curious.

urbandreamer Dec 13, 2023 6:19 PM

Like everywhere else in Canada, many of the residents of these ugly inappropriate towers in KW are TFW Conestoga "students" or tech employees. Like I discovered at The Well: every resident I saw - 100s - was South Asian. The LRT is packed with them. Think of the carbon footprint spent flying these wage suppressors across the Globe! (Recall how media reported Pearson was a disaster in 2021 & 2022 but never could explain the cause? Haha. Oh, and also the surge in new Covid19 variants.)

WhipperSnapper Dec 13, 2023 6:20 PM

I haven't a clue. This 55 storey ugly beast isn't even the tallest proposed in Kitchener

I've seen a few listings at the Well for a one bedroom plus den leasing as a $4800 (total) furnished 3 bed student residence. It's a shit situation for locals that see inflationary costs from the huge annual growth in international students and for the students that are completely lied to about the housing crisis here.

You'll find something in Toronto. That is not the case elsewhere. I sat next to a guy flying back to Pearson who was going home after failing to find housing out east.

That's a wild price for a rental. I know some people that have been in the market recently and been able to find a recently reno'd full floor (or 2) of an old house with 2 bedrooms plus office for $3kish in both the West and East End. Much preferable situation in my books as they are in a more interesting area and have outdoor space included. Still expensive (though for 2 people not as dire) and took some looking but not impossible. I suppose a big difference is they are employed professionals with rental history.

WhipperSnapper Dec 13, 2023 9:09 PM

The den was $1800. The master was $1500 each for two people or $2200 for one person. I remember the listing because you could probably rent the same floor plan as an unfurniished rental for around $2600.

The furnishings were the cheapest quality.
