Yep, that is the house. No idea why they wouldn't want to sell.

I remember back when there was going to be a mall on that site ( yeah, that should send some heads spinning!), the matriach of that familiy lived there. She was quite old and simply did not want to leave her house. I am sure we all have elderly relatives that we can relate that to. She seemed like she had lived there her whole life and inteneded to finish her life there. Without going into personal stories, I'll just say: I can relate.... and understand. Now, is the question. The property may be intestate or tied up otherwise legally. There is also a possibility that folks have worked around the property so long now that no one is now willing to pay the family what they have held out for. There are lots of possibiliites, all of which are legitimate. So.... Ms Shonda Novak.... get on it ! Inquiring minds want to know! |
Great pictures. There are some excellent and seldom seen viewing spots.

The picture entitled "cool view of the towers" is stellar. I love the progression from one to the next.

Just found on the City's planning website an updated set of plans for 7RIO. Files 15 and 16 have the elevations. Don't know but looks plain to me. Sorry I did not link it because I am new at this. I am sure one the regulars can grab it.

On another note, this project appears to not have ground level retail according to files 35-36. |
^He's talking about these, and we've seen them. I have those saved already, and the last two numbers in the files are 15 and 16.
Downtown Austin Blog has one of them: http://downtownaustinblog.org/2012/1...-construction/ |

Welcome to the forum, Homecreek.
I didn't realize it wasn't going to have retail either. That's a letdown. And the design is kind of boring. I hope the materials are good quality. It is going to stand out in that area. |

Yeah, really great shots from uncommon angles, Ian. I particularly like the one of 3eleven with the Cirrus Logic building in the background.
Is it just me or is SkyHouse really thin? Judging from this picture, it looks like there's going to be a big space behind it and that it doesn't even fill the lot. Maybe they're going to put something back there? Another addition? It would be weird to have this big space behind the building. http://imageshack.us/a/img24/6858/img2731nr.jpg |
Also, isn't it kind of ridiculous that this seemingly prime retail space hasn't been filled yet? What gives?

Nice pics, ivanwolf, thanks! I noticed the crane sections at 311 Bowie when I drove by the other day. It's moving along.
