Speaking of Big Red Dog projects, I don't remember this update on the Corazon being posted:
http://www.bigreddog.com/preview-of-...-austin-texas/ When does this project start construction (if we have a date)? |

I didn't know Corazon was under construction already. That's awesome.
I'm apprehensive about using zip codes as a basis for "downtown" because that could inflate the list, be somewhat misleading, and also make it unmanageable. We probably need a Downtown list and a Metro Area list. There's a whole bunch of projects off of Riverside (the South Shore District) that I'm not including, either. Whether WCCG has the resources to do it or not, that lot is one of the most prime pieces of real estate in Austin because it's right across from the convention center and so close to the lake. You'd think it would be hard not to develop it. Maybe it won't be the Trinity Place development we've seen site plans for, but it will be something, surely. We just don't know when. |
I'm heading out to east Austin his afternoon so I'll get some better pictures.

My neighborhood listserve (Allandale) is currently debating the fate of Burnet Rd. Some residents are worried that Burnet Rd., with so many alcohol serving establishments moving in, will not be "child friendly". Others have pointed out that "child friendly" is not something to expect from Burnet Rd's future. The neighborhood needs to not waste time fighting reality, and instead focus on walkability issues. It's been an interesting discussion.
