I didn't know Corazon was under construction already. That's awesome.

I'm apprehensive about using zip codes as a basis for "downtown" because that could inflate the list, be somewhat misleading, and also make it unmanageable. We probably need a Downtown list and a Metro Area list. There's a whole bunch of projects off of Riverside (the South Shore District) that I'm not including, either.

Whether WCCG has the resources to do it or not, that lot is one of the most prime pieces of real estate in Austin because it's right across from the convention center and so close to the lake. You'd think it would be hard not to develop it. Maybe it won't be the Trinity Place development we've seen site plans for, but it will be something, surely. We just don't know when.

Really disappointing and really predictable. The state complex will likely be a barren wasteland due to machinations and tactical delays like this 20 years from now. Congrats on holding back "commercialization" we really appreciate you protecting all those surface parking lots, block size low rise parking structures and single use office complex worthy of being in the worst office park in the state of Texas. Job well done. Perfect way to kill the area of town right between the CBD and the University.

Is this project a go now?

I think so...if it's moving through the city...that's a good sign for life. I think it's really nice for a midrise

It's certainly an attractive, well designed building. And if they're still targeting 1M to 4M per unit it better be very very very nice. I imagine they're looking very carefully at Barton Place sales.

My neighborhood listserve (Allandale) is currently debating the fate of Burnet Rd. Some residents are worried that Burnet Rd., with so many alcohol serving establishments moving in, will not be "child friendly". Others have pointed out that "child friendly" is not something to expect from Burnet Rd's future. The neighborhood needs to not waste time fighting reality, and instead focus on walkability issues. It's been an interesting discussion.

Right - because as things stand, Burnet road is a child friendly paradise what with the wide lanes, infrequent places to cross, enormous set backs behind acres of parking lots. Allandale could hardly do better than that. Why would they want an adult drinking establishment ruin the whole thing?

Good lord. . .I will never understand these neighborhood types.
