^^ I love that 1st picture bridge/bow and the following..Is Inglewood an older neighbor hood by city standards? Almost reminds me of a few Peg areas.

Downtown Winnipeg - River Rouge - Saint Boniface Cathedral - Red River

Thanks Cyro! Yes, Inglewood is one of Calgary's oldest neighbourhoods. Almost 140 years old, some of the buildings from that era are still standing, mostly just houses though. Most of the buildings in the photos are over a century old though.

Two snaps from this evening's walk...

Harbourside Park. You can see one of the two statues of our indigenous dogs, the Newfoundland and the Labrador.

http://i.imgur.com/E66fmkd.jpg

And heading back up the hill to home. It gets dark so fast now once the sun disappears behind the hills. It's interesting seeing into the homes. I'm surprised how many have their kitchens as the main, street-facing, downstairs room.

Evidently the only people that this is spiting is you and that other guy who bitched when I posted a month ago.

Interesting to note however that no one complained when I posted a comparable number of photos of Alberta a few days ago and of Montreal a few weeks ago... (probably just a coincidence, of course).

Actually, this post is 27 pics, the post about Alberta you're referring to was 15 pics, in a different thread. Nearly double is not a comparable number. Also, I'm not the only one that has complained about it in the past. Someone complained about it to me once, so I changed in order to have some common courtesy. I guess asking politely doesn't matter though, since it's me.

Well I for one not only welcome, but encourage you to post more pictures. You shouldn't feel the need to change a certain behaviour because a few people are easily butthurt or like to assert their need for authority on the internet. :)

Besides, I'm still averaging like 1 post per month here. Not exactly forcing anyone to scroll through 20 boring, monotonous pictures every day.

Chadillaccc Oct 26, 2013 1:04 AM

It's not about butthurt, it's about courtesy for people that don't have good computers. No worries, this very comprehensive request is obviously lost on you. I'll remember not to try again in the future. Sorry for trying to "assert authority over the internet," that's exactly the ulterior motive I had :P

Mrs Sauga Oct 26, 2013 1:48 AM

Keep the pics coming people! Especially enjoy seeing ignored cities like Lethbridge. I usually avoid the threads that are high on pictures when I'm at my crappy work computer, but visit when I get home.

lio45 Oct 26, 2013 2:42 AM

Who clicks on a thread called "Post pictures of your city" then complains that there turned out to be too many pics in there for his slow computer?!?

(Actually, I happen to be on a very slow computer right now -- and still enjoyed MonkeyRonin large, quality pic selection. If it bothered me that the thread takes a while to load every page, I'd avoid it. (Advice that I'll also offer to anyone who thinks there are too many pics in here.) Keep the pics coming!)

kool maudit Oct 26, 2013 12:33 PM

i would rather view a totally inordinate number of toronto pictures than a slightly excessive amount of lethbridge ones.

SignalHillHiker Oct 26, 2013 2:33 PM

Hungover, I hiked to the top of the Southside Hills this morning and, when I got to the top, I wasn't alone.

10 a.m. and there were two fishermen up there having a few beer and enjoying the view. They offered me one but even I can't go that early... but I joined them for an hour or so just chatting.

They were quite charming. I might have to get me a fisherman someday.

One more... our old Parliament (with just a single, tall, narrow entrance - so weird) and the Cochrane Street United Church. I love that church. It looks so tropical. That street is named for the Governor who actually built Government House at the edge of Bannerman Park.

Thanks Jimby. No one else cares about posting dozens of pics, so why should I? I tried and failed, no biggy :) and at least it's something 95% of the people on here have never seen, rather than the same stuff everyone has seen. Not to mention all but 2 of them are my own pics in the Lethbridge post.

No worries Canus, there will be no more snarkiness. I understand it was rude of me to ask for people to post respectable amounts for people with bad computers. I won't try to wield such unfounded authority anymore.

Brizzy82 Oct 26, 2013 4:22 PM

I thought those Toronto pics were awesome, & I don't really care who took them. Thanks for posting them MonkeyRonin.

Chadillaccc Oct 26, 2013 4:33 PM

I never said they weren't good pics, in fact I said they were awesome. The argument is over anyways, I conceded! :P Just means I get to post more pics, not a bad result all things considered.

mistercorporate Oct 26, 2013 4:58 PM

Regardless of what is posted or how, what is glaringly obvious the past couple weeks on these forums is that there are some forumer(s) who are clearly mentally ill and need to get therapy for their love of responding emotionally and with paranoia to everything. Some people need to work on their social skills.

Chadillaccc Oct 26, 2013 5:41 PM

It's true, obviously it's been something I have been personally struggling with quite badly lately. That's why I have been trying to stop arguments after I notice that I'm escalating them. Sorry again

Who cares if the pics are not the posteŕs own, as long as they are urban ?

I'd go even further, statistically it's almost guaranteed that 27 "cream of the crop" pics resulting from some internet sifting by MonkeyRonin will be better than 27 pics all by MonkeyRonin himself. So I'd rather see the former! ;)

And I actually think it takes more time and involvement to bring the community here a selection of 27 great pics from your city than it takes for you to press on your camera's button 27 times while you're out there in your city, and post them here.
