This is what Pearle does looking at their portfolio. It's a huge investment for them but, it also isn't a small business owner proposing a 75 storey condominium. I give it a chance.

If they pull off the restoration of the power station as outlined in the video it will be outstanding. I'm not really motivated to go to Niagara Falls, but if that delivers I would likely make the trip if I was in Toronto. Maybe I couldn't afford to stay at the hotel, but have a meal there, check out the hotel - for sure.

Also really like that Hamilton proposal just above - it's really good. The only thing I'd change is reduce the banding height at the roof level to match the width along the sides and reduce the height of the second tower by 6 floors. Matching heights just doesn't work.

This week, Niagara Parks announced it has signed a Letter of Intent with Pearle Hospitality for the redevelopment of the station, which will be a transformational $200+ million private sector investment to establish it as a world-class visitor experience for the Niagara Region. Pearle Hospitality will be both a new tenant and the company managing the site.

Included in the redevelopment plans designed by +VG Architects and The Ventin Group will be Niagara’s first and only five-star boutique hotel, a variety of restaurants, a craft brewery, a wellness and social spa, a museum and art gallery, the E.J. Lennox Theatre, event and programming space, and educational programming.

Fabullous project, if they can pull it off, although I don't see how it's possible for only $200million.

Here's hoping that Niagara Falls power station renewal goes ahead. The history behind that place is quite something, and the programming for the newly repurposed space is a great mix of uses, especially the museum for E. J. Lennox.

There's certainly a lot of proposals coming online for that area of Hamilton, that's encouraging. :cheers:

Whether or not this even gets built is up in the air. Like most recent Vive projects, they never seem to actually do them even though they get them approved. Also, the heights are confusing. The architectural plans say 11 and 30 floors. The City of Kitchener site plan application document says 11 and 29 floors. I guess we'll see...should it ever get built.

For Leckie Studio, the starting point for a new Vancouver prefabricated housing prototype was a precedent that had gone from being widely built to being widely disparaged. In 1965, plans for what became known as the Vancouver Special could be purchased at City Hall for $65. Initially targeted to immigrant families looking for an affordable modern house that was an off-the-rack fit for Vancouver’s standard, 33-foot-wide city lots, Vancouver Specials whooshed through permitting and could be constructed in less than a month. By the 1980s, these boxy jiffy-builds were so reviled that bylaws were passed to prevent their further construction, particularly in Vancouver’s more affluent west side neighbourhoods, where colonialist heritage was defended as the status quo.

Fast-forward to the present: Vancouver’s housing prices are insane… and it may once again be time to think within the box. But this time around, “gentle densification” is a desired outcome, which lends itself well to a box that can be easily subdivided. Leckie Studio’s Triptych prototype is an adaptable housing system with three possible interior configurations within one standardized 2400-square-foot structure, consisting of three 800-square-foot ‘modules’. The ‘3 Module’ configuration is a standard 2400-square-foot residence; the ‘2+1 Module’ configuration consists of one 1600-square-foot unit (2 modules) with a secondary 800-square-foot unit (1 module); and the ‘1+1+1 Module’ configuration consists of three 800-square-foot ground-oriented dwelling units. Standardized wall, window, door and service locations allow for minimal renovation between the three configurations. An additional 800-square-foot laneway module can be added to further increase density on any urban lot to four units—all ground-oriented.

On Tuesday Cambridge council approved an amended development application for 410 Queen St. that reduces maximum tower heights from 30 to 16 storeys.

Great idea and all, but nobody is going to build this when every lot in Vancouver is zoned for FSR 1, ie you can build 4000 sq feet on a 33' lot, instead of the 2400 sq feet shown in the prototype.

Love that little Lincoln Proposal. That should sell out fast. I'm glad to see no farmland will be destroyed for it. :cheers: I'd be happy living in that building with a lake view.

It's three high rises with one above a large 6 storey podium. Little is not how I would describe it. This is something you would encounter in a city centre. It's a denser vision than Bayside on QQE in Toronto. It's surrounded by parks however, it's not like this development is contributing all that much to that open space.

I would call this one of the zaniest proposal out there. However, this is a typical proposal for the lake shore between Hamilton and St Catharines. I don't know. Towers lining waterfronts around the world aren't new. They tend to be designed for vacationers and tourism.

Canmore, AB is in the midst of a next boom cycle with a good amount of projects in the hopper.

Coldrsx, do you know where the two new hotels will be located? Not talking about basecamp mtn house project (Also find the concept of a Nordic spa next to a firehall and cemetery strange for a project like this).

Only project I find off in town is the school board one. I get why they are doing it, but essentially developing land that acts as additional park space feels like a big miss
