One tower total, or one additional rising?

This is a three-tower complex. They just topped out the first one. They haven't began with the other two yet, but I think I read they are about to begin with the second one before the year ends.

So is the one that just TO'd the tallest of the three? Also, someone needs to update the Jersey City diagram, none of these are on it.

chris08876 Sep 19, 2015 6:37 PM

I think its the 2nd tallest. In terms of height, the difference between the three towers is very minor. This should be the one on the left of the rendering on site. The one with the parking deck.

Interesting. Thanks.

In some of the frontal shots (taken from the water) you can see another tower rising along with this one. Which one is that?

When finished it will look like this:

From what I've heard, the developers of the URL site (Mack-Cali) agreed with the developers of the 2nd Trump tower (65 Bay Street) not to begin construction on the remaining two towers until 65 Bay is fully sold out. I think that's a bit ridiculous, it's not like you can sell people on views with the knowledge that their view will soon be that of a another (taller) building across the street.

chris08876 Sep 24, 2015 9:14 PM

People will buy regardless of view. Its really more of being in JC/NYC area and close to the city. You could build a tower with views of a sewage plant (and it smells), and people would still buy it. Towers sell out quickly in this metro, to the point where in some cases, the design is not even revealed, and they sell out. The demand is loco.

Yeah, I don't think that is true. Why would the developer halt his own development for at least one and a half year, so another, and competing developer would sell theirs? What is the benefit for them?

Anyway, speaking of vistas, today YIMBY published these from one of the upper floors of URL Harborside

More pictures, from NJ.com.
They say they're taken from the 57th floor (so twelve floors bellow the top 69th floor and at about the height of the Trump Tower, as seen in one of the pictures)

New Jersey’s tallest residential tower has topped out at 700 feet (214 meters). URL Harborside 1 is a new multi-family tower on the Jersey City waterfront being developed by Mack-Cali Realty Corporation and Ironstate Development Company.

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop and fellow municipal officials joined the development partners and more than 200 trades-people to celebrate the construction milestone of URL Harborside 1, a uniquely-designed, 69-story residential tower that will bring 763 rental residences to Mack-Cali’s Harborside Complex in downtown Jersey City. The approximately $330 million development, the first phase of what will ultimately feature three towers comprising 2,358 residences overlooking the Manhattan skyline, is expected to open for leasing in the fourth quarter of 2016. The ambitious project has created hundreds of jobs in Jersey City, including construction and eventual full-time employment opportunities.

“This is a special project in every way,” said Mayor Fulop. “It will help redefine the entire New Jersey skyline. We couldn’t be more proud of the growth of Jersey City.”

The URL concept, which stands for Urban Ready Life, was developed by Ironstate president David Barry to deliver an innovative housing solution that maximizes space, reduces energy use, provides close and easy access to public transit, and serves the community with cafés, residential rooftop gardens, and other unique amenities. Designed by acclaimed Dutch architecture firm Concrete, URL Harborside 1 will be a flagship property with a distinctive tower reflective of its waterfront landscape.

“Today’s topping-out of the first Urban Ready Life tower at Harborside in Jersey City is extremely exciting for us,” said David Barry. “Similar to what Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson created with the Seagram Building in Manhattan, Urban Ready Life at Harborside will be a special building for a variety of reasons and a timeless milestone in the trajectory of Jersey city.”

Those sunset pictures are gorgeous. Where was the picture taken from (with the park in the foreground)?

Thank you! Those are from Rockefeller Park, at the northern corner of Battery Park City.
