Yeah a brick facade over the elevator core would work in creating the illusion of a fully cantilevered building.

Seen it once from a skyscraper window in Toronto. I felt religious for 0.68 seconds.

Nice enough proposal on Bloor but proposed to take out one of the best pubs in that part of the city (Bryden's).
|
But look they will replace that with a Juice Bar!
|
Oh I love that Bloor proposal. Definitely my aesthetic. Well, one of them anyway lol.

Apologies for the size, not sure how to make them smaller--
Updated renders for 80 John St N in Hamilton (2 x 30 floors, 97m). There are 4 other ~100m towers proposed or under construction at this intersection Quote:

Hamilton would have been my first choice if posted without the info. Street level looks pretty good. I like the bench planters and, dare I say it, the colonade. Towers have an appealing retro look ruined completely by the copper "moar density" box.

Now for something a little different. They will be turning an abandoned 1905 power plant into a Hotel and event space just upstream from the edge of the Horseshoe Falls.

Odds it actually happens or ends up a dead end like many Niagara projects in the past?

Fingers crossed it moves forward.
source: https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2023/11...-station.54606 This week, Niagara Parks announced it has signed a Letter of Intent with Pearle Hospitality for the redevelopment of the station, which will be a transformational $200+ million private sector investment to establish it as a world-class visitor experience for the Niagara Region. Pearle Hospitality will be both a new tenant and the company managing the site. Included in the redevelopment plans designed by +VG Architects and The Ventin Group will be Niagara’s first and only five-star boutique hotel, a variety of restaurants, a craft brewery, a wellness and social spa, a museum and art gallery, the E.J. Lennox Theatre, event and programming space, and educational programming. |
Will be nice to see this redevelopment. I remember walking by there and being so surprised to see this grand historic building sitting there apparently vacant. We don't have enough buildings like that to waste them.
|
Great to see that gem getting renewed. There was a pretty cool documentary on it, its history and former operation.
|
Stunning Niagara Falls development. Let's hope they actually move forward with this.. it's a gorgeous structure even in it's decay.. Imagine it fully brought back to life!
