What kind of question is that? Of course!

Mock Up

It looks like they are erecting the mock up for the exterior at the parking lot on 19th and arch. I saw a bunch of guys from the CM Company that is doing the project over there and there is about a 3 story steel structure up already.

Yeah, I noticed that yesterday.. put some pics and language from the permit on the 1900 Arch forum ...was curious about what all that was.

Quite a bit of digging today it seems. I wonder how they are going to get rid of the ramp? Because if they do that, how do they get out? Unless when they make the foundation and put the garage down there, there will have to make the entry point at steel level where the cars will enter. Right?

Went by today and took 2 pictures. (Sort of hard to take pictures at this site because of the fence.) But it really looks very deep, a lot deeper looking then what the webcam may imply. Very huge site, and a lot of work still being done! I'll upload them when I get time. I also checked out FMC site and they are busy as well, still doing the footers ect.

Edit: Oh yeah I can't help feel that when taking pictures of construction sites people will be staring at me like :sly: which is kind of funny wondering like a 22 year old cares about a dirt pile.

I was 22 when I moved to Philly shortly after college. I worked very close to where this building is going up. Ahh, to be 22 again. Enjoy. Who the heck cares what they think?

BTW the "survivor tree" at 19th and Arch is no more....

I have to imagine thats as deep as they go, unless they go deeper when they do the core. Were getting closer! Perhaps 3 more months.

kraggman Sep 29, 2014 12:58 AM

In that first pic the hole looks ready to gobble up the whole neighborhood.

Plokoon11 Sep 30, 2014 2:16 PM

Looks like they are test boring at the deeper side. Right where the core will be.

Londonee Oct 1, 2014 3:16 PM

Are they drilling the caisons on the western side? My cell phone does not zoom any further. But there is large cylindrical tubing and a large boring drill going to town:

Possibly! :)

Someone get some more proof!

citc construction

I stopped a man with a white hard hat who said he was the site manager. when I asked him if they had transitioned to the construction phase he said of course we have been there for some time. So at least by his definition they are well beyond site prep.

TallCoolOne!! Thanks for the shot!!

The shot above proves that they are in fact drilling for caisson installation!:tup:

Congratulations Philly. We officially have our first Supertall skyscraper under construction.

Philly Fan Oct 1, 2014 8:47 PM

Have we spotted any rebar cages or concrete going into those caissons yet? And is that a requirement for transfer to the Supertall Construction forum?

Plokoon11 Oct 1, 2014 11:14 PM

Yes I was right then! Awesome news!
