Unfortunately no snow pics from me - but a few in the Christmas spirit. Just checked, nearly two months since my last pic post, so might be a little longer than normal.

I started volunteering for the Victoria Heritage Foundation as they are updating their photos for the nearly 1,000 properties they have on their database and website, and for new editions of their neighbourhood books their publish. Unfortunately I don't have the right lens for my camera as too wide distorts and a closer lens you can't fit in the house and most houses you have to get really close to avoid the trees, cars, shrubs, telephone poles, etc, etc. Way more challenging than I thought, and out of a list of 200 for the two neighbourhoods I was assigned to I haven't got very many at all, lol but luckily a colleague of mine is up to the task and capturing a lot.

So you'll see a fair number of wide angle shots that I don't normally take, which I left on while going downtown and other areas. I forget who, but someone a while back in another thread was claiming Victoria had very few heritage buildings outside of the downtown core.. oh how I wish that was true now, lol.. nah, not really.

The second Odd Fellows Hall (pics of the original to follow below). I took pics a few days earlier inside as well which you'll see. Good news is they're planning to restore the exterior to its original condition if possible. I think it was back in the 1940's the City told them to cover it with stucco because of safety concerns of the old brick. Seems to have been a common practice here and likely across western Canada, not sure about the East.

Thanks Scaper and jc_yyc_ca!

Yah, mild winter weather isn't terrible, also enjoyable for strolling around which helps with urban vibrancy downtown and elsewhere. We do miss out on the magical blanket of white snow though, I think Victoria would be a good looking winter city, but alas it's not to be and I can't handle the cold anyways.

Speaking of white magic (what was Larry Bird's nickname, you know for a famous player I don't think he had one) great Quebec set above Pellimo! Question on the pic below, what's the story behind this display? Looks like giant lamp shades attached to the streetpoles? How big are they? Very cool and unusual.

I wouldn't mind if it snowed in Victoria. I do snow removal when it does... not very often though.

Wow, great photos of Quebec City!!!

Some of the countless cranes dotting the Halifax skyline. Can anyone figure out 1) where I took this photo from? 2) what projects the six cranes are for? and 3) what landmark is under the white weather protection wrap?

Thanks Metro-One - glad you enjoyed the pics.

A gorgeous little Toronto building which the developers allow a tiny bit of depth compared to the usual build right on top tower method. Looks too sterile though, would it kill them to remove a few of those tiles and put in a little garden out front with a single tree?

Also enjoying all the icy Calgary pics lately, the lighting/sky in a lot of these is magical, especially the dusk ones. Again a reminder for me to get out and take some evening pics - one day. I do that when I'm on holiday but not in Victoria for some reason.

Absolutely gorgeous! Winter photography, particularly frost and snow on trees, is among my favourite types of photography.
