Montreal is underrated regarding the number of skylines the CMA has. The built form is very different vs Toronto and Vancouver but there are highrises being built in many places, creating multiple skylines.

Laval is starting to look like a smaller Ottawa from a distance.

They are building 30+ story towers in Repentigny now... You did not see that 10 years ago.

That's true. Actually while I was on top of Outremont it was the first time I had noticed a distinct Laval "skyline". It's not nice or anything, but it's something that wasn't there before.

Rico - beautiful autumn Montreal shots and yah, nice to get a high quality view beyond downtown in addition to the cemetery and park pics. While not a sea of secondary skyline supertalls there is a ton of depth and interesting buildings/areas to mull over. From what vantage point did you take those pics?

Giallo - goodness your photos are always so lovely! So many interesting people, wasps in spider webs and especially the low clouds hovering over the blue mountains, classic and yet cozy Vancouver there. Really enjoy the people shots - is it possible to get a vibe or insight into a city by people shots? Maybe not as it’s through the eye of individual photographers, but I still look for these things, lol.

Usually I find Yelp to be be a pretty good guide for the best places when I’m travelling to other cities.

Very nice Victoria set. Victoria is a charming little city. Last time I was there I walked the whole city and it was just lovely.

Rico - great chewable city shots of Montreal! Just fantastic composition, and nice pops of colour in the shots emphasized by the grey day. Sorry, I’m just as interested in the photography side as the city itself part of photos :D. And by chewable I mean there is a lot to look and chew on, people should really check them out on Flickr for the higher resolution.

Photo 1368 - quite interesting to see the layering of the Chum building(s?) Are those three separate buildings? Were they old buildings recently reclad or newer builds?

The 24-105 lens, exactly what I should have got, my one zoom is a 70-350 on a mirrorless - WAY too much zoom nearly always, lol - but takes great pictures, almost always at 70 mm. :D

The 24-105 lens: I beat the hell out of my original kit lens, so the 24-105 is a breath of fresh air. It's a sharp crisp lens. Definitely an upgrade. Interesting that you're operating with at minimum 70, but when taking a shot of something or someone across the street being at 70 seems to work well in your photos. :tup:

Rico - previously I meant to say that my zoom lens to a 70-350, but I also have a fixed 30 and 16 mm lens. You picked a good time of day to get those Montreal shots, enough light to stay in focus and see the detail, but just dark enough to get the warm glow of lights - nice! Habitat is still holding up well - do they power wash it every few years, or once a decade type of thing?

MonkeyRonin - thanks for sharing those Toronto shots! Lovely! It’s great to the small scale stuff and the beautiful homes in addition to all the big stuff. To be honest, after being overwhelmed and impressed by the skyscrapers it’s these homes that I’d probably fall in love with most. Gorgeous.. damn, I guess it’s true that they don’t build them like they used to. My favourite has to be the Bloor Fruit Market.

Earlier today I just had Bing AI give me a five day itinerary for Toronto based on my interests, might have to tweak the instructions a bit to include historic neighbourhoods.
