I think Kansas City's downtown skyline is so underrated. It has some of the best art deco towers for a medium sized metro and its tallest is very beautiful and modern and at the very center of the skyline creating a very nice apex. I hope the downtown continues to progress because it is underutilized as of now but I know that is changing:)

That is the City of Coral Gables in the foreground. Then beyond, we have the City of Miami and the City of Miami Beach beyond that. In the upper right, we have the Village of Key Biscayne, which is where the Ericsson Open tennis tournament is held every year in March.

South Florida is polycentric as all hell. We still have football announcers calling Sunny Isles Beach downtown Miami because it's in north Miami-Dade where Sun Life Stadium is when the Miami skyline is the much bigger one farther down the coast - dumb announcers.

Cro,

Just a heads up, but while I appreciate your enthusiasm, some of those photos were FAR too large, and your first post had too many photos. This thread had largely gone away with breaking the rules (one photo per post), but you took more liberty with that than most have. If you'd like the links to the photos back, I can get those for you, just PM me.

So, I'm asking everyone else to at least try to follow the rule of one picture per post just to keep this managable.

Ironic that you would say modern considering that's such an ancient picture. I remember seeing it for the first time in a travel brochure almost 20 years ago. :P

Beautiful photo though. I can see why they would use it in a travel brochure -- makes me want to visit Calgary.

Seems that RSA's approach to "improving" an investment is to slap a new roof on it... They've got almost every building in downtown Montgomery with a green roof. I was surprised that they didn't construct another tacky spire on the former "GM Building" (the taller white slab). The spire for Battlehouse looks great, but replicating it on another building was just too much...

Watch out, New Yorkers... don't let them do something crazy to 55 Water St. Of course, given that RSA probably doesn't own another building in NYC, you might could actually wind up with something interesting.

QuantumX I love your photos. I can't believe I haven't been to Miami yet, although I've been all over the rest of FL. One thing I do a lot is go to YouTube and do searches on "landing in Miami". That way I get to see nice flyovers of the city.

Thanks! As I tell everybody, I started doing this because I had to do it my way to get the kinds of perspectives I wanted. Also, as I tell everybody, the longer you wait to visit Miami, the more you will see with the construction boom that's on now. Miami's airport so close to downtown does limit our skyline to some degree, but it can make for some dramatic entrances into the city. I'll have to visit that part of YouTube you mentioned.

There is such a variety of towers in Hong Kong. You have everything from super wonderfull office spectacles right on down to third world decaying apartments from hell. All of which combine to make a little piece of heaven. It is all Just fantastic to say the least. Yes, a little piece of heaven is exactly what it is.

And then, you have the topography with the mountains in and around the city. It's like a cross between New York and Rio.

What exactly do you find so appealing about this monstrous and ungainly structure? Does the sight of it make you gasp with pleasure? It makes my gasp in horror. It certainly doesn't seem to do much to warm up the streetscape.
