Midtown is positively smoking. This looks great and they're working like dogs on Centergy North just a block south of this site.

I really like the way a lot of these projects are being developed on a podium. You can fill out the street level while still preserving some elbow room between the towers.

Cornerstone Medical Office building is not in Buckhead. That's way too far south.

It's absolutely in Buckhead, just like Piedmont Hospital which it will be across from. Buckhead starts where 75/85 split.

While I agree that calling 1/5th of the city "Buckhead" is quite ridiculous, that area is officially defined as Buckhead these days.

I refer to the area south of the creek and north of 85 as Brookwood.

joecool Apr 28, 2014 1:05 AM

I don't understand why everyone calls everything above I85 Buckhead. Lenox Mall is not suppose to be "Buckhead". That area is technically suppose to be called Brookhaven but was named Lenox Square. The area that was/is defined as Buckhead would be the area around the intersection of Roswell, West Paces and Peachtree going up to around the Piedmont and Peachtree intersection and as far south as where the Publix and Barnes & Noble is on Peachtree. Anything south of that is not Buckhead. Linbergh, Peidmont Hospital, Northside Drive area along the golf corse, Morning Side, Cheshire Bridge, Buford Hwy areas are NOT Buckhead.

Lenox Mall has always been Buckhead. And as far as Lindbergh, there is a sign on the street that says Buckhead while driving up Piedmont.

A lot of folks who live there, a lot of businesses (including Piedmont Hospital), APS and the city of Atlanta government would be surprised to hear that. Not to mention the Post Office, APD and the tax collector.

But you right that Morningside and Cheshire Bridge are not in Buckhead.

That's not exactly true. I've read somewhere that the current definition of Buckhead was created by the Georgia state legislature, IIRC sometime in the 90's. I've met people born and raised here that also say that Buckhead was originally only the area around the Village.

Exactly. All these areas are called Buckhead only because people want them to be. Or they want to be able to say they live in "Buckhead". If you want to call whatever area Buckhead then It's cool by me. I just think it's interesting. It's like saying Little 5 Points or VA Highlands are Downtown.

It doesn't matter what it used to be...what matters is what it is now. Now Lenox Mall, and Phipps Plaza are in the Buckhead jurisdiction.

Scania is correct.

I've lived here since 1972. Lenox Square (not Mall) has always been in Buckhead.

 I agree. Vinings is another area whose boundaries has 'expanded' with a similar phenomenon. There are now apartments with Vinings in their name off South Cobb Drive.
