Last I saw the Fairmont will be 50 floors not 47 though Ive seen inconsistent numbers so who knows until closer to construction. Even though the hotel floors will be alittle smaller they are building on top of some high floor to cealing ratio ball rooms. Id say with the spire will be close to 700 feet if not at 700 feet, thats if the spire will be as tall as shown.

The Fairmont Hotel height now is planned to be 581 feet to the roof and 700 feet to the spire. But don't worry, I'm sure that will change since this is still a year away from starting construction. Building heights always change right up until they start construction. Once they start construction they're pretty much locked into the height. They may be shorter, but are never taller since they'd have to go through the approval process again and then there is structural engineering issues.

Great job on the models. I look forward to seeing some more. That view along the Congress bridge will probably change if and when the Trinity Place (97 Trinity) is built. It'll likely block the view of Fairmont from that angle.

Using my iPhone to see my height while standing on my third story deck I am 14 feet higher than the top of the UT Tower. lol.

And a whole lot taller than the Capitol! Pretty cool. =)

Austin101 on C-D did a really cool thing kinda like this last week.

He just used blocks to represent the buildings but got lots of cool stuff that is either U/C or planned. He did it like that with lost of views and what-not so you can see the heights of how things will/could look.

Defiantly worth taking a look at his work. It is really fun to look at. =)

Just be warned... it is C-D. :D

At least the Fairmont would somewhat block the Hilton from certain angles. I never liked that building.

T. Stacy & Walton Street just put the land & existing buildings on the market for sale today. So this won't happen - at least not in this form. Hopefully a developer will buy it and build something cool there. It's one of the closest sites to the Capitol that can have a supertall building on it. They are referring to it as a 1.6M square foot development opportunity. For the record that's 2.8 Frost Bank Towers, which has 560,674 square feet.

What if Donald Trump built one of his buildings there? haha

kidding... I actually don't like the guy, but it be interesting to see something similar to his skyscrapers on that spot there.

Samsung Electronics Co. confirmed Monday that it will spend between $3 billion and $4 billion over the next year in converting roughly half of its Austin chip manufacturing operation to a new, potentially more profitable product.

The South Korean company, which is the world's second-largest chipmaker, last month closed the part of the Austin factory devoted to memory chip production.

When that work is completed and the retrofitted part of the factory is in production in the second half of 2013, then the entire production of the factory is expected to be devoted to making "system chips" for smartphones and other smart mobile devices.

Samsung employs nearly 2,500 workers in Central Texas, which include a few hundred workers at its engineering design center in Northwest Austin.

When the latest project is completed, it will bring Samsung's total investment in Austin to more than $13 billion, making it one of the largest foreign investments in the United States.

The Donald isn't actually an investor anymore. He is a brand and just sells his name to other peoples developments at this point.
