The ground floor is partially underground. I wonder if its two storey units or all parking.
This will come down to the stucco accents. Also, these developments look alot better with similar street hugging neighbours. I don't get that vibe in the photos. |
Hopefully theres an effort to make the lintals look real and not obviously glued on pieces of EIFS on top of what I assume to be precast brick. Results could really vary a lot depending on execution.
The grassy hill between the building and street dosen't help. One could argue there was a missed opportunity to add retail to animate the street, but theres probably not enough of a retail demand there to begin with to justify paying the rent a new commercial unit. |
Here is a small 9 storey infill project on Charles street in Toronto.

The tacked on Edwardian shell is unfortunate but the scale of that is great.

Good scale, decent if unremarkable architecture, and an example of facadism done reasonably well in contrast to the one next door - the volume of the tower is set back from the existing building giving it some room to breath (and maintains more than just one or two exterior walls), and it maintains the existing width & scale rather than absorbing it into a borg-like monstrosity. I wish we could have thousands of these instead of the typical tower podium + spandrel slab/point-tower model...like these ones, which on the other hand are just horrible. Bad architecture and even worse built form: Quote:

It still looks like a facadectomy. Just demolish the house. Although it is just a rendering. Streetview would be different. I prefer this built form too however, because of its narrowness the number of units per floor is paramount to know.
I can't see anyone building a 9 storey building among the towers here. IIRC, tower separations start to come into play going taller with the this. However, should be able to squeeze in a narrow 150 metre tower assembling these two houses. I can't figure out where Foret is. The Parks looks very grey. There's not a lot of glass and it's Hariri Pontarini. Definitely curious on the finished cladding. |
A 200 rooms hotel will be build adjacent to the big O, where the StarCité multiplex is now located. The 17-screens cinema will be downsized to only 6 screens.

Love that design and integration.

totally agree.
Only thing is, at least in the renderings, it seems hard to get to and, more importantly, to leave. That is, if the drop off isn't underground |

TRIFECTA - A 3 towers project next to the Tour des Canadiens 2 and 3. The first tower (the one on the left with a slightly slender roof) is 36 stories (120 meters) and excavation is under way. It's a rental. I suppose the design of the other two are not finalized yet.

Love that hotel next to the Big "O".
Proposal on Ottawa's Scott Street, across Westboro Station (Transitway being converted to rail). Scott has a long lineup of proposed, approved, u/c and completed TOD towers. Quote:

The towers aren't bad lookin'. Similar commonplace Ottawa nonitecture. The 6 storey podium wall facing Scott ( presumably) with the gold accent frames are great. Those glass protruding boxes above them just don't fit.
4 elevators. Either a nice luxury or these are really small units. **edit oh, they are actually around 40 storeys. At a glance, I thought they were closer to 30 storeys |
