One of Kingston's more prominent intersections too. And it doesn't even really capture the Shopper's Drug Mart parking lot across the street.

Seems safe to say that if a business has the same building exterior on its locations from Newfoundland to Ontario and probably beyond, it's probably soul-sucking.

There is a something with Pizza Pizza, Double Pizza, Subway, Mr. Sub or the equivalent cheap sandwich and pizza joints. Whenever I see one they slowly suck the soul out of me.

The Greyhound bus terminals are also pretty depressed, especially the one in Ottawa. And it has a Mr.Sub inside too.

Indian Line "Campground" in Brampton. Actually drove through there once out of curiosity. It was full. Not sure who "camps" right in the middle of what looks like a wasteland.

- Right next to a highway? Check.

- Right beside train tracks? Check.

- Right under a flight path? Check.

- Surrounded by industrial on one side and ghetto on the other? Check.

- Located on a river that looks like chocolate milk that you can't swim in and can only catch carp and catfish? Check.

At least it's down the road from Wild Water Kingdom.

No surprises there! ;)

At least this one in Coquitlam, BC has some trees in front of it. But yeah, still soul-sucking.

"At least it's down the road from Wild Water Kingdom." I'm sure that's the only reason it's located there. I'm surprised Wonderland never opened a camp ground or a resort on site.

Like Darien Lake. Never thought of it until you mentioned it. Does seem strange they didn't have one. Too late now!

Here is the other campground on the other end of the city operated by TRCA. Glen Rouge Campground:

Much nicer surroundings. Still going to hear passing cars though.

I read on Trip Advisor that lots of people who RV stay at these locations when wanting to visit TO. And some people stay the whole summer from what I gathered when driving through.

Suburban Montreal... pick your poison

Would you like Mirabel's sprawl not far from agricultural land?

https://s10.postimg.org/uy8uakq61/Ca...0_15.57.02.png

Or would you rather have Chambly's new development (by far the worst)?

https://s10.postimg.org/grt3fes6h/Ca...0_15.59.08.png

Or if you don't care for SFH, Boucherville offers density AND blandness!

https://s10.postimg.org/uy8uanih5/Ca...0_16.00.10.png

If you're feeling gritty, how about some parts of Longueuil?

Quebec actually has a famous one right on the A-20 about an hour east of Montreal.

http://www.campingstemadeleine.com/

Most people in the province have heard about it. It's like a mini-city in the summer and I betcha most people there are Montrealers.

This movie I think was filmed there, but if it wasn't it was certainly inspired by it:

Nothing like hearing the sound of cars and trucks while you're sitting by the fire staring up at the stars.

Another highway campground. This one in Milton on the 401:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.52147.../data=!3m1!1e3

It's adjacent to Kelso Lake, which has a decent beach for a conservation area. Real annoying place to fish with all the ambient car noise.

Beverly Hills Estates (trailer park). In Flamboro, rural Hamilton:

Well Québécois campeurs tend to sing rather loudly or play loud music around the campfire, so that drowns out the traffic noise I suppose! :haha:

Don't you love it when people in the Burbs like to tell you there isn't enough green space in the city. They'll say shit like at least I can go home and relax in my backyard. Most urban back yards are as big or bigger because you don't get much of a front yard since the older homes don't have driveways.

Somewhere in Markham. Source: https://upload.wikimedia.org
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...rial-edit2.jpg

And in Toronto's case the downtown offers better parks and more green space then just about every suburb that surrounds the city.

Vixx Mar 20, 2018 8:36 PM

Suburbs in Alberta are just as bad as the Ontario and Quebec examples. Difference is the hard on developers here have for vinyl, which ages badly (I think this was mentioned earlier?).

WhipperSnapper Mar 20, 2018 8:46 PM

Posting a picture that has been posted a thousand times over is pretty soul sucking. It's not somewhere Markham either. The red house in the upper left corner is 443 Elson Street.

A few from the suburban municipalities. They are, at their best, the worst of suburban St. John's. But they get so much worse. Exurban is a bit of a stretch for some neighbourhoods, which are generally still completely clear cut and without sidewalks.

Town of Conception Bay South

To give you an idea who lives in that beige house on the left, the map in the centre of this meme is Google directions from Conception Bay South to the Costco in town:

Surrounded by strip malls.
