Detroit's problems are deeper but further out, in the vast nothingness that used to be residential neighborhoods, and are now empty lots and burned out homes. |
I know that it can be tempting to compare Canadian and American cities but be very careful as it is a bit of apples and oranges. Yes Pittsburgh has seen investment in the core but it is government driven and the city and region are losing population. Same with Detroit which has seen impressive numbers compared to where they were but remember the level that they started from.
Don't forget that Winnipeg's overall stats are very good as it has much higher density overall all than most US metros as well much more stable finances. Don't let a few fancy downtown projects funded by Washington fool you into thinking that many US metros are anything but severley disfunctional disasters that are not addressing core problems. I speak from experience as my siblings live in once great Northeastern US metros whose problems embarrass them and if it wasn't for the money they make there would move back tomorrow. |

When major retailers like Target, Nike, H&M, Lululemon, Whole Foods, etc. are setting-up shop in a city's D/T, it's a vote of confidence. Though Detroit has a long ways to go, it has come far from when it hosted the Superbowl in 2006 when D/T abandoned buildings and broken windows were hidden by banners. One unique fact about Detroit is that it is the only city in North America to have its four major sports teams play within its downtown. |

Pittsburgh only has the 3 major sports , no NBA and Minneapolis has Twins , Vikings and Timberwolves downtown with the Wild in downtown St. Paul .

Well, well, well. Look what we have here.
They're cleaning up the site and have removed all of the tarps that were covering up the openings to the below-grade space. https://i.postimg.cc/W3W4GjdR/Sutton...p-04172024.jpg |
