One Delisle's balcony pattern creates a corkscrew. Normally, I'm a less is better type but, this addition incorporates balconies through enhancing the overall form. Well done.
I don't care for the main tower at Richmond Yard but, I still give the developer credit for the overall masterplan. Dartmouth skyline may rapidly grow in the next few years but, it will also look like a giant people warehouse from Canuckistan. |

QG Vieux-Québec.
The construction of this project is finally going ahead after years of delays (building something inside the Old City walls is frustratingly difficult). https://lescoopsdelinformation-le-so...600&height=900 https://lescoopsdelinformation-le-so...440&height=896 https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...14372230_n.png |
Posting to show how dense construction is in some areas of Halifax. There are seven major construction sites within 350 metres of MacDonald Bridge in Dartmouth. They range from 7 floors to 40 floors and all of the current construction sites are being built individually by developers and not part of a master planned area. Here are four of them as of last weekend. The others can be seen on my blog.

Odenak in Ottawa's LeBreton Flats from last Thursday. Roughly 4 floors left, + the angled roof that's equivalent to about 2 floors.

THE MARLSTONE - 19 FLOORS - DOWNTOWN HALIFAX

The nice thing about the Kevel is the lowrise masonry portion which has some detailing and tile mosaics. Then they're building another phase next door which will have a shorter tower, some more interesting lowrise bits, and a public waterfront portion. Then on top of that it's next to the canal daylighting project.
One weakness is that it's not integrated very well into the downtown for pedestrians due to some empty lots and curvy 70s era roads. |
8 Elm makes me angry. The bronze trim is great. The window wall isn't mullion heavy and any spandrel panels are indistinguishable from the vision glass but it still looks bad without uniform panel widths. The venting which could have been hidden in the generous cantilevered balcony slabs cleaning up the facade too.

Those recent Metrotown projects are actually great, really setting a good bar for suburban development.

Probably the only city in Canada right now to have the water fountain on haha:

Not an exciting tall tower, but some decent skyline background.
